I have never sprayed a bag before to protect it because
1. I was scared to 2. I only had bags that were made of super soft leather and I didn't want to mess that up. 3. I never had a light colored bag before so I wasn't as worried 4. I have no idea where to start..... so guys....if the stars align and I can keep BOTH the topaz quilted elise and the ivory silvana I MUST pretreat them before use!I have heard that nordstroms sprays bags or something...anyone know anything about this? I used a leather conditioner called apple gaurde on some of my bags and noticed that some of the color lifted off! yikes!! I have no problem investing in some expensive stuff if it'll do the trick. As far as the ivory silvana goes, is there some way to protect it from color transfer say if i wear it with denim????? ![]() Please advise guys. I would be sick sick sick to wear such expensive bags if they might get ruined. Thank for all the help

I have ZERO advice to give you (I am wondering the same thing, actually) except ever since you posted the Topaz Elise I CANNOT stop drooling over her. I'm so glad you decided to keep her and I hope I can snag one one day myself!

thanks. yeah and your posts about the silvana made me jealous till I realized i got one too!
(that's how you know you need to keep a bag...if you get jealous of your own bag! )the topaz elise is so new for me since i'm normally into big slouchy bags, but it's kind of like always wearing 'flowy' bohemian clothes and then putting on a a snug sheath dress; you suddenly feel more glam, grown up and pretty. i hope we get some good answers about treating these bags cuz i'm not touching them till then!

^^^ haha and the ivory is gorgeous, too. If I wasn't in dire need of a black bag I probably would have gone for that one.
And I am exactly the same way as you are - always slouchy bags. But I really want to switch things up and have been trying to carry literal HANDbags instead of just shoulder ones to make it interesting hehe. Can't wait to hear the suggestions too, that's for sure. |

I conditioned and sprayed my white multipocket with Apple Guard's rain & stain repellent when i first got it. Honestly, I had the same problem as you a couple weeks back. I swiped my metallic purple patchwork Elise with some Apple Guard and some color lifted. Most response i got was NOT to treat my bags. I think i'll stick to that advice. For me I don't plan on using my MJs every day so i think i'll be ok if i don't pre-treat my colored bags.
I have a mix quilted E/W tote in Ivory that i'm going to spray soon with the stain repellent but i'm going to test it on the bottom first. ![]() Good luck! |

I spray my bags with Collonil Nanospray. Worked very well on my light stams without leaving marks.

I tried to find thoughts on patent leather on here but couldn't find any. I have a MBMJ Posh Turnlock hobo and i'm guessing its patent leather. do i need to treat it? are there special cleaners for patent?

there's not a lot to do with patent leather bags other than surface cleaning. If you get a scratch or markings under the patent finish, there's not a lot to do for it (unless you have it professionally taken care of). I don't think there are product specifically for patent leather |

we have lots of threads about sprays and lotions and guards for our mjs. (this is also an old thread)
*edited* this seems to be a new topic w/patent leather so i'm going to add it to the list of cleaning faqs. |
