Default Does repairs mail out replacement straps?
I have tried searching but I've only found information regarding repairs and I am still a little confused.

I have a black cecilia but it did not come with a leather strap, will repairs@marcjacobs.com send me a replacement leather strap if I am willing to pay for the part? Also from the threads that I have read, if it's just for a replacement strap, would I need to mail my bag in?

Also, from the search, I hear a lot of people mentioning the name Diego. In my email to repairs@marcjacobs.com, do I just put attn: Diego on it to get it directed to him or does Diego do most of the repairs already?

It's my first time here so if this is already answered somewhere, can someone please point me to the correct threads?

TIA!

oohhh good question
i'm curious about repairs on MJ bags as well
my gold multipocket, that i bought a few years ago (2004 or 2005) is broken on the rings that hold the shoulder strap
the little metal anchor inside the rings on both sides has broken, and now the rings spin, exposing the "open section" of the ring, where the metal anchor once held it

if you have a multi pocket, then you know what im talking about

baglover - did you get a reply from them saying that they aren't replacing straps?

MJ repairs usually only repairs bags from seasons within the past 18 months (per an e-mail I received from someone there). I know there have been exceptions but I just wanted to put it out there. :)

i tried getting a replacement trish strap, but couldn't.

i would think that since the cecilia is current, it wouldn't be a problem. keep emailing him until he replies. GL!

I got a message back from him but I am just annoyed. Why would he ask me what happened to the strap and then tell me that they are unable to replace it? I love this bag but I don't have a strap and it really makes me not want to buy another other MJ bags if the service is this bad.

From what I have heard, getting replacement straps/chains is not as easy as say getting some stitching fixed or a stud replaced. Most of the straps/chains have leather components that need to match the bag. I don't think that the company would just make a bunch of extra straps/chains matching every bag from every season to have lying around, KWIM? They may also be wary of sending them out because people might sell them on ebay to may a profit, or place on fakes to make them seem authentic. I think repairs is usually very helpful but I can see why ther might be issues with sending out certain replacement parts. Additionally the Cecilia first came out(in R '07) with a cotton strap. After that season they have all had chain straps with leather sections on the shoulder. Perhaps they are also wary of people just not liking the original strap and wanting a different kind since that technically compromises the original design.
Where did you purchase your Cecilia?

^Totally agree, very well said Jacy!

Also, keep in mind that some other designers do not even offer any "warranty" for their products. I find MJ's repair service to be excellent (though I haven't had to use it myself).

well thats a MAJOR bummer, espcially because I only owned the bag for like 6 months before it broke...and then i just never knew where to turn to to have it fixed

i will be very careful and delicate with my new multipocket to avoid this happening again
