Hi Everyone,
I tried 2 different large multipocket bags in Bloomingdales and several other MJ bags that have zippers. Every one of them had zippers that were quite difficult to close and open. Has anyone else noticed that on any of the bags? What if your zipper breaks? Will MJ fix it? Where do you send it for repair? I changed my mind about Coach for this very reason. Some of the much less expensive bags have zippers that seem to work much better than the pricier coach ones and all of the MJ bags I tried. Is there a secret to getting stubborn zippers to work more smoothly? The SA said they just need to be used, but I wasn't so sure. |

Im not sure what you mean by the zipper being difficult? Is it on bags with heavy zippers? I know sometimes my larger bags- like the Blake and Venetia are tricky because the zippers are bigger and heavier so I have to grip the side of the bag while I am unzipping/zipping. Does that answer your question?

If you are referring to the zipper sticking...I have taken a candle or a bar of soap and rubbed over the teeth on the underside and worked the zipper back and forth...problem is solved...

The SA is right. My Blake has large zippers that put up a little resistance when I try to open and close the bag. I have only had the bag for a week and the zipper is already becoming easier to work.

Yes, this multipocket has what I would call a heavy zipper. We had to grip the side of the bag to open it. We tried all of the ones in that style and the one that had the zipper than ran smoother had a spot on it which of course I didn't want. I'm hoping based on the other posters that it would be something that would get better with time. I picked up a Michael Kors in Nordstrom and tried the zipper and it was so smooth. Has anyone had to send a bag to MJ for repair? I don't expect to have to if I get the bag, but I didn't see any information on it about how or where to inquire. When I used to buy Brahmin bags, you registered those. Do they not do that on these even more expensive bags? Thanks so much for everyone's help! |

^^ I wouldnt think that a sticky zipper is cause enough to send to MJ. I always email repairs whenever I have an issue that involves repair. But I also think the SA is accurate- zippers tend to get looser after time. You can also try what forenfinal has suggested with your older Coach bags and see if that works. It so, it should work with MJ bags if it really bothers you.

Riri zipper a quite a bit harder to open than the lampo ones, I agree the large MP takes 2 hands to open where as my Hudson (lampo) is dead easy to unzip. I still have a few older Mulberry bags and they also use riri zippers and they're also quite still. I doesn't bother me btw and none of them has ever broken (keeping fingers crossed). Hope you enjoy your new MP, one of the best bags imo :)

This is a timely question for me. I just got a grey Christy, and the outer pockets are so hard to unzip that I was literally working up a sweat trying to open them! I'm kind of nervous about running soap over the zipper; hope it eases up without it.

the zippers on all of my bags were alittle stiff at first, but after opening and closing and going in and out of my bag a million times a day, they began to loosen up after a week or two. forenfinals idea sounds great though - with the soap or candle wax!

My large MP zipper is hard to open too. I just always lived with it since I adore the bag so much. I will be trying the candle wax trick.
As for MJ repairs, I had to send my Olga in b/c a stitch came undone & the chain part was no longer attached to the bag. Well, I sent it in 2 weeks ago & received it today! I can't say enough about how FAST I got it back. |

I too have the same problem, I was hoping the zipper would be easier to use in time but I have been using my bag for 6 months and the zipper is still very stiff.
I also have a Chloe bag with the same problem. |
