My husband got me the beautiful Mercer large multipocket in chalk at the Nordstrom sale. I am so in love with this bag but today I ran a quick errand and I was wearing jeans and within 30 minutes, I can see a very mild but noticeable blue haze forming on the back of the bag.
I'm so bummed out because I really do love this style and specifically this color. Is there a way to prevent the dye from dark clothing from transferring to my handbag? I don't want to return it but if I can't fix this problem, there's no sense in keeping it.

Try the appleguarde leather cleaner. It should get the color transfer out. I got mine at leatherstuff.com and if you browse through the Deals and Steals section you may be able to find 20% off discount codes.good luck !

Maybe you can pre-treat bags before use to prevent color transfer? I don't think there's anything you can do to get rid of it unless you get it professionally cleaned. This is why I'm so afraid of white bags!
Will they let you return it even though it's been worn with some color transfer? |

My friend recommended the Mr. Clean magic eraser but I'm a little scared to try it. Has anyone tried that? I do have the Apple leather cleaner so I'm going to try that first.

Okay I used the apple cleaner and it came right out. It's probably because before I ever wore the bag, I double conditioned it and sprayed some leather water repellent (both apple products). I'm still curious if the magic eraser works though!

I didn't have good luck with the Magic Eraser on mine. It kind of rubbed the leather off and I tried to be really gentle. I wouldn't recommend it on a bag with soft leather. But it does work well on vachetta like on my LVs.

Be careful w/ the magic eraser, I've used it on smudges on my walls & the paint will come off! I don't think it is a great idea on a handbag, IMO. Always spot test on an area that doesn't show.
Glad to hear the chalk multipocket cleaned up for you! |

I think the Magic Eraser is too abrasive. I have an Oatmeal MJ and I always carry a white eraser with me when I use it. Works like a charm.

I'd contact Barbara at lovinmybags. I think they can handle dye transfers. They do a great job of restoring bags!
