Default Am I dealing with bid-sniper?
Well, I found this bag that I have been salivating over since it appeared then disappeared from the market a few seasons ago.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=130229393477

The MBMJ Tye-Dye tote been poping up all over ebay and for a starting price of $20.00, I jumped for it!

Well, my problem is that whenever I put in a bid, I am immediately outbidded! I am very sure that my competition is not online 24 hrs a day, so I wonder if they're employing a bidsnipper or something. Do you girls know what's happening? This bag is going for cheap and I want it!

you're dealing with an automatic bid. it means another seller has entered a maximum bid and everytime you enter your bid amount, it's automatically bidding up to the next increment until it reaches that maximum. if you keep bidding or enter in your own maximum bid, you might reach the other bidder's max and become the highest bidder. it really depends on how much you're willing to pay for this bag.

a snipe bid is a last minute bid seconds before the auction's end.

They probably have a high maximum bid and it will automatically be raised every time you enter your bid until you outbid there maximun bid. Hope that helped!

Ugh, that's really annoying. I can't spend too much money on this bag, it was only worth $298 in the stores!

edit: Okay, now I'm the highest bidder. Now, I will be watching for the last few moments.

even tho the current bid might be $20 -- if the current high bidder bid $100, as long as you continue to bid less than $100, you'll continue to be outbid (you'll also see the bid amount be raised to an amount just above your max, NOT the high bidder's max) as soon as you bid an amount that's more than their max you'll become the high bidder --

that's why I rarely, if ever bid my max at the beginning of an auction -- If there's a BIN I want to remove or I want to make sure my bid's in place, I'll bid a small amount over the starting bid so I don't drive the price skyhigh or past my max bid amount -- then I'll usually wait until the end of the auction to bid my max or use a sniper program myself --

If you really want it, you might consider using a sniper program -- most of them let you try it out for free first so it won't cost you anything -- and even when you are charged, you're only charged if you win (if your snipe is too low or doesn't win the auction they don't charge you)

i know this might be sneaky and frustrating to some people (it sure was to me before i started using it) but if you're really serious about bidding for something i totally advocate using a sniper!

ditto what everyone else above has said. sometimes for popular items, sniping really is the only way to go :-(

good luck on your auction though!

This one is NWT and has a starting bid of $99 with 15 hours left, maybe if the other one gets too expensive you can bid on it?
I think it's mislabeled so I thought you might not see it. Anyway, I hope you get one soon!

I don't understand why some of you are paying for a sniper. Go to www.goofbay.com the sniper on there is totally free, I have been using it for ages.

I saw a few of these type of bags at Nordston rack in Sacramento, Ca and Nordstrom Rack in Colma, CA. Didn't check the price though...

Oh, that's the satchel. I'm specifically going after the tote because I want to use it for college.

And I'm hoping the one I'm bidding on doesn't get that high! Thank you, though!
