Default ✴ It's Combo Time!!! ✴ Post Your Favorite Eye Makeup Combos!!
Yes, I should be grading papers right about now...

But I'm not.

Instead, I am thinking about fantastic combinations for eye makeup. (No, I'm not shallow, just creative).

That said, it occurred to me that it might be fun (as well as incredibly useful) for us to post about our favorite eye shadow combinations. This can be helpful for those of us looking to take advantage of what we already have in our MU collections, as well as inspire future purchases...for those of us who aren't on bans, that is. Cough cough.

So, please post your favorite eye shadow/eye liner/eye pigment/etc. combinations here! And please be as detailed as possible about where/how you are applying the colors, which color(s) you are using, and which brand(s) you are using. It doesn't need to be an elaborate combination, just something you think is attractive and would like to share with others. (Elaborate combos are welcome, too, though).

Let the combo madness begin!!!

I'll go first:

I have light blue eyes with yellow specks in them, and I have found that brown and peach/orange toned eye makeup does a fantastic job of making my eye color pop. Here's a great combo for that purpose:

- Apply shadow primer (this is a must, as far as I am concerned -- I like Too Faced Shadow Insurance)
- Smooth MAC's Paint Pot in Quite Natural (a medium matte brown) on the eye up to the crease (either with a brush or your fingers)
- Wet a small shadow brush with water or MAC Fix+ (this is important), and use it to apply a small amount of MAC pigment in Melon on the lid and up to the brow bone. Blend the pigment upwards so that the color becomes more sheer towards the brow bone.
- Apply a line of MAC Rich Ground Gel Fluidline to the upper lash line (I like a thicker line there -- since this is a pretty subtle color, you can get away with it) and a thinner line to the lower lash line
- Finish with some black mascara of your choosing

I find this look appropriate for day, since it is pretty soft...and it only take a few minutes!

One of my favourites right now is all MAC - Unbasic White on the inner lid, mix Unbasic White and Blue Sorcery for the middle of the lid, then just the Teal in Blue Sorcery on the outer edge/ crease/ v. If going for a more dramatic look I go from Unbasic White straight to the blue, then the crease/ v is Electric Eel. I also tap on Reflect Teal glitter. All of this on top of UDPP, Blacktrack Gel Liner on upper water line and thin line on upper lash only. Then Peaches blush, Meltdown lipstick.

I LOVE this idea. I really need suggestions.
Ok, please take this with a grain of salt since I just started with eyeshadow. Here are my two favorites right now:

UDPP all over my eye
MAC Ricepaper all over my eyelid and up to the brow concentrating on my brow bone
MAC Kid in the all over crease
Tons of 2000 calore mascara

UDPP all over the eye
MAC Ricepaper on the browbone
MAC Kid in the crease up to the inner brow
UD Lounge on the lid
Mascara

mmmmmmmmmmmm. Combos. I love the Pizza flavored ones.

Wait.

My favorite GO TO look is:
MAC Painterly Paint Pot (all over up to brow)
MAC Ricepaper all over up to brow (I am so mad I lost this shadow!)
MAC Bronze or MAC Satin Taupe in the outer v, blended into the crease a little.
MAC Dip Down Fluidline
TONS of mascara, usually MF Volume Couture (I am so going to miss this) or MAC Plush Lash

It's a fab neautral that I can wear with practically any cheek or lip combo.

OH NO! You lost your ricepaper? I feel for you.... I don't know what I would do without my Ricepaper or Satin Taupe for that matter.

The combo you posted are my go to combo also! Except the Ricepaper only goes on my browbone and inner corners and I blend the Satin Taupe a little more into the lid (past the outer v).

Loquita, good idea for a thread. Do you have the chocolate eye bag? I'm only asking because the combo you posted included everything from that bag. I almost bought it, but the melon pigment looks gold on me and I didn't know how to work with it.

Another few of my faves are:

Grand Entrance or All That Glitters -inner lid (tearduct) and browbone
Woodwinked on the middle lid
Mulch on the outer V
Satin Taupe in the crease
Feline Kohl power set with Carbon to line the upper lashline
Any black mascara

or

Amber Lights on the Lid
Texture in the Crease
Ricepaper on the browbone
Mahogany pearlglide or Bobbi Brown Chocolate Shimmer Ink to line the upper lashline
Any black mascara

My favorite combo is wearing Patina on the inner and middle part of the eye, Carbon on the outer corner V, and Texture on the crease up to the center of the eye. It is a perfect smokey eye for any time of the day.

Ha ha ha, dee-dee, you sure know your MAC!! Yep, I got the chocolate eye bag the first day it came out, and I love it. And you are so right...Melon pigment does look a bit gold on, but not so much so if you put something under it like a brown shadow. I love it, personally. The Rich Ground Fluidline is so tuff, it looks great on...it's a nice coppery bronze. One of the nice parts about it is that it goes on pretty light so you can be a bit sloppier in the application that say you would be with Blacktrack Fluidline. I have to trace some pretty thick lines on with it if I want it to show up on me. It's a great look if you want a daytime neutral.

Ya know, I have yet to purchase Patina. (I know, I know: ?) It is going on my list for the post-ban splurge!!

Another fave combo for me:

-Vex all the way up to the brow, blending it so that's it's lighter the farther you go up (this is such a killer color...how come I was so reluctant to try it????)
- Tone:Grey (from the Tone: Grey quad) on the lid and up into the crease
- I then used my beloved 226 to work some Talent Pool (love this teal!) into the crease and blended the whole thing like crazy with my 217
- I traced a thin line of Phone Number eye kohl under my bottom lashes, and then smudged it a bit with Q-Tip
-Apply a few coats of black mascara (the one beauty item I'd take with me to a desert island...nobody messes with my mascara!!!)

This is a great look for a simple dark gray/black neutral outfit...I work it on Thursday with some dark gray knits and a beautiful teal bag. The whole look, as usual, was built around my bag (my other fave trick is to work around my shoes).

I don't think I've come across another person w/ yellow in their eyes before IRL! I don't have specks, but a yellow circle around the pupil and my eyes are a blue-green.

I really don't know what I'm doing w/ combos, TBH. I wonder if the melon kind of shades would work on green eyes? I have some in my Tarte kit that I never use, but bought b/c it was SO pretty! I know that purple toned things look nice on green eyes though... When I use a liner it is an eggplant colored liner.

Hey elizat!!
Yep...wait, I just took a good look at my eyes and they do have a yellow ring around the center, not specks (doh). I just read somewhere that light-eyed people with yellow or gold coloring in their eyes tend to be warm-toned (which def. is the case for me). And I also love eggplant colored liner...in fact it's one of my staple colors, along with brown. I bet that the melon would look great with your eyes since they you probably are warm-toned and have blue in your eyes. I myself wear a bit of orange shadow sometimes and people tell me it looks great!! This makes sense since on the color wheel orange and blue are opposites -- blue makes orange pop and vice versa.

Interesting on the yellow ring! I am blonde, but I have yellow/beige undertones, rather than pink undertones. Talk about being hard to find a foundation light enough w/ my skin (just a note here: Tarte rocks for this). I'll have to give melon and maybe some light layering a try and use the kit I have.

My favorite everyday look so far (I have brown eyes):

MAC Painterly Paint Pot
MAC Satin Taupe all over lid, going to a little past crease
MAC Bronze on crease
MAC Brun swirled on outer lid
MAC Vanilla under brow

For top lash - either MAC Molasses or Black Russian pearlglide
Shiseido Mascara Base
Shu Uemura Ultimate Expressions mascara
For lower lash - Dior Elegant Taupe e/l (so pretty!)
