I know this has been asked before: mono vs ebene Eva but I have a specific question for all mono Eva owners:

Does the Vachetta strap age well? Issues with color transfer etc?

I am looking to use my Eva for everyday trips when a big bag isn't necessary or convenient as well as the option to use it as a dressy clutch for weddings, fancy dinners etc. The versatility is what attracted me.

Further, I'm on 5'0 size 0-2 so I know it will be long when worn cross body but I think it'll be ok.

Advice please! I plan to buy this week.

Great question, also planning on purchasing this bag for my upcoming trip to Italy and Greece (or I just might get it while I'm there). Awaiting responses.

I personally prefer DE in this bag as I liked the way it looked better than Mono, it caught my eye right away (I guess the shiny plate), and for me there are some bags that I prefer the look of one pattern over another. I do also think that the Eva in DE is lower maintenance regarding the Vach strap, but it wasn't really a thought with me as I don't use the strap anyway. I also have the Eva in Azur for Spring and Summer, but again, don't use the strap.

I'm really torn! I think I "prefer" mono but only if it's going to last and continue to look both classy and casual. I would love to know how they age. I went through the Eva clubhouse but couldn't get a clear idea.

I understand, I just love mono so much that the decision is easy for me, however, I am concern about the strap.

I can't wait any longer - I keep thinking of more and more uses (as DH rolls eyes) and I have to have it lol!

I will most likely make an on the spot decision btwn the two. If anyone has pics of their loved Eva's - I'd appreciate it!

I don't have an Eva but the vachetta on the Eva is the same as any vachetta of a Louis Vuitton bag. It will age (patina) and will be prone to dust / dirt marks. If you simply want to enjoy without babying it, you should get the Damier Ebene. Good luck deciding!

I had the same dilemma and ended up getting the Eva in DE. I love mono but didn't like the look of the some of the used straps I saw on ebay.

Thanks for sharing! How has ur DE aged? Do you find it can be both casual and dressy? I'm going to check eBay for reference.

I own an eva mono and i just love it. The gold hardware hasn't faded after more than a year. I dunno but to me it looks dressier and the mono print just looks very nice with the bag's style. Plus i love the script style Louis Vuitton engraved on the front. It is aging quite well, the long strap hasnt softened quite so (i tend to use it more without it during lunches, clubbing etc). No color transfer on the strap even when worn with jeans. I admit the DA on this model appeals to me but im scared of the color transfer. I cannot love eva enough for its versatility and surprisingly bigger-than-expected capacity.

I have the mono and damier Eva.
My Mno Eva has quite a patina now that I have been using her for the past year or so, It ages quite well.
The damier Eva still looks like new even if I've had it for quite some time now.
