Just to clarify a little- the iphone is .01mm thicker in the center of the phone the outer edges at slightly thinner than the old iPhone. It looks slightly slimmer. I am posting this from the 3g I bought today. I waited all day in cincinnati and it was worth it!!!

Sounds like at least a couple of TPFers got their iPhone to activate successfully. That's good news. The reason why I asked is because Yahoo! made a headline about it, looks like hundreds of people got problems trying to activate it at the Apple Store. So I was really curious about that. Anywho, thanks megs0927 for the info. Enjoy your beautiful new gadget! I'm jealous.

question for those of you who got your 3g today - Is yours smooth where the plastic backing meets the side top part? Does that make sense? I bought the white one and where the white plastic meets the silver edge, it sticks out ever so slightly. Has kind of a scratchy feel to it. Maybe that's normal? I hope so, as I waited in line for 6 hours for it, lol!

So if it's stretched, I may be ordering a case afterall. I'm literally craving for a Monogramoflauge case! I'm going to give LV a call later just to see their view.

Buttons, mine also sticks out ever so slightly. You can't see it but you can feel it so yours sounds normal to me! Unless ours are both indeed defects !

My husband waited in line for two hours and then I pulled up an hour before the store opened. He was second in line. We were in the store for an hour and a half while the rep tried to port our current numbers over to AT&T and she still wasn't able to activate it through iTunes. She told us we would have to do it at home. When we got home only my husband was able to activate his. It took awhile before mine would connect through iTunes. Thank goodness we were the first set of customers taken in the store (only six at a time). My husband and I didn't mind the wait because we were inside the store versus waiting outside and wondering what's taking so long. The system was apparently bogged down with so many activations and people switching from other carriers. We love our new phones. My husband wanted to wait for the second version because the kinks are usually worked out after the initial launch. We'll see about that. It is an amazing phone.

YIKES! I ordered a white iPhone today from rogers here in Canada, just so that it would looks nice with the new Damier Graphite case (well I like white better too, but still haha it will match the graphite bag I want, with contrasting white!), so if the phone does indeed not work with the LV case, I won't be pleased. Perhaps LV will modify the design of the case by the time new ones launch?

I was one of those people who waited in line at the AT&T store for an hour and a half. I then went to apple and waited 4 hours. Once I got in the store it took close to 3 hours to activate it because of a glitch! It was crazy but worth it at the end of the day! In regards to the sides being smooth I got the black 16 gig and my sides Are flush with the silver. Is it safe to buy LV cases on eBay? Anyone k ow of any legit sellers? I always buy my bags thru elux or at the LV boutique.

Congrats you guys! I'm glad everything went okay despite the long wait and trying to get it activate. Looks like the new iPhone is going to be amazing. Enjoy it well!

And megs, you can try looking posting the ebay listing for case at the Authenticate This Louis Vuitton thread, as usual. I'm sure it's safe, really depends on how reliable the seller is.

And omg, they have two colors for the iPhone now? I can't believe it. The white looks so sexy. I'm jealous.

white iphone edge update:

I went to the Apple store today and exchanged mine for a smooth edge one. This is apparently a problem with the white ones only. It took took the sales rep. a few tries to find one that was smooth! They were very nice about it.

We waited 6 hours at our Apple store! First we went to AT&T but quickly found out they only had 90 and there were well over 200 of us in line. We were at Apple before opening, but the AT&T system was so overwhelmed the line didn't move from 8-10am!

There is no problem with the way the new iphones work, the glitch everyone is thinking of was on AT&T's side of things and it was because their activation system was bogged down. I actually think its rather unfortunate that people are associating this with Apple's product, which I think is largely the medias fault!

My hubby got a black 16gb one and it works great and its sleeker looking than mine (first gen). Turns out the new one is a little larger, but it has rounded edges to make it fit more comfortably in your hand and this makes it actually feel smaller than the old one. The new one weighs ever so slightly less, but in reality no human could FEEL the difference (even though I heard one lady proclaim: wow it's so much lighter!).

I'm sad about the case situation - I wonder how LV will handle this! Will they stop making iPhone cases all together? Make newer ones that fit the 3G? Hmmmm....

Keep us posted on the stretching status!

Oh how interesting. Mine's black 8gb as that's all that is offered here sadly, otherwise the white would so be mine! Anyways, I'm not fussed by it otherwise I'd be put on a waitlist, they've sold out over here!

It definitely does not fit. I just took my new black 16GB iPhone to LV to try it out and the phone went into the case very tightly, but then did not want to come back out at all. It took four of us working on it, trying to pull it out, and what ended up happening was one of the security gentlemen came over to help and he worked on it for about 15-20 minutes, trying to pull from the top and push from the bottom until enough of the phone was free for him to grab it on the sides and pull.

It was seriously not budging at all for a long time, and I was thinking I was just going to have to buy the case and try to get it off at home. In the end, I was just happy to get my phone back safe and sound with no scratches from the experience. It took forever to get it yesterday, so it was much more valuable to me than the case.

Cheryl, I'm wondering if maybe yours was already a little stretched out just from regular use with your first generation iPhone which provided enough give to be able to pull it out. The one I tried in the store was essentially vacuumed onto mine, you would have thought it was glued in.

LV has a contract to exclusively make cases for only the iPhone. Others can make iPhone cases, but LV cannot make cases for other phones under this contract. Given that, it seems unlikely they wouldn't update the case because right now they're selling a case that doesn't fit any phone available to be purchased.

I almost bought the case even after it held my phone hostage, thinking maybe if I overstuffed it with something (other than my phone) it might stretch but that would have been taking a risk. My SA and the manager both said they wouldn't chance it and I had to agree in the end, it was kind of a dumb idea to buy an expensive case that didn't even fit and I really wasn't sure there was much stretch in it, to be honest.

But the good news is that my SA also said that they received notification that the iPhone cases were going to limited production. She said they're good sellers which makes that unusual, but her guess now is that they might be phasing them out to make way for new 3G versions of the cases. That is only her guess, so take it with a grain of salt, but she is going to call me as soon as she hears anything about a new case being released.

You know, I've always preferred the white over black on iPods and probably would have gone white except that it's not really all white. The back is white, but the front is still black so it actually looks half white and half black which didn't appeal to me. It almost looked like they slapped on a white back as an afterthought, just to create another option, and, like I said, normally I prefer the white but I have to admit the black does look very cool.
