I had to pay both times for new lock and keys when i only needed a key.

no, u don't get the key for free. if u lost the key, u have to buy a whole new set of lock and key, which is 30 buck or so. the number under the lock is for future ref, when u get another bag with lock, new lock should be same number so that u could use 1 key for several locks.

When I got my brown waterolor speedy 35, my SA gave me two sets of lock/keys! I guess it depends on the SA if they give you the lock/keys for free or if the charge.

Any kind soul has a spare key for lock no. 313? I would really appreciate if you can send it to me as my lock has sentimental value and I lost its key.

I called LV customer service & was told to bring it to my local LV store & they would cut off the old (with the lost key) and give me a new one. I drove downtown and they said they couldn't cut them off in store & that they were OOS of locks. They took my name & address and said they'd send me one, but it's been 2 months & nothing. I normally order through elux (it's easier), so I don't have a regular SA in store. I thought about following up, but I think I'm going to wait & try to get another when I'm in Vegas next month. I wish I could just get keys though. The lock is beautifully tarnished & matches the hardware of the bag. A new one will look funny.

HowardU09, I love this idea! A silver lock would also look great on a chunky link bracelet!

I forgot to say, it sounds like each store honors a slightly different policy when it comes to keys, boxes and such. When yu think about it, it makes sense. Some stores probably get inundated with people coming in looking for free dustcovers, boxes and keys so those stores are probably more stringent with stuff like that so those things will be available for their best customers. While a store thats less busy that doesn't get as many requests may be more willing to give out those things for free.
