From a previous post in this thread, they do not work it out on the US dolllar, apparently it is done on the euro and rounded to the nearest $10.

Best thing to do is buy off the LV website and use a US based mail forwarding service to get it here (cost ~$50) and if you have one, use a credit card that does not charge a forex fee (usually around 3% of total purchase price). You will be charged in USD this way and thus save a tonne of $$$$$! You miss out on the boutique experience but big deal. You will save buckets of money

Plus GST, plus imports duties etc that they pay to bring them into the country etc
No item bought here is going to be a direct conversion from another country because we have to pay GST and any taxes etc that have been paid will be passed on to the customer when the final price is decided.

Default Buying LV from US or UK website
Hello,

This is my first time posting in this forum after following for a long time. I have tried to purchase LV from both US and UK ( using forwarding address ) but the website always turns my card down ( Citibank Platinum Visa ). It says my card can't be authorised. Anyone has an approved online transaction via the website using forwarding address please share. Coz I'd love to here from you!

Heard that the UK boutique except phone order as well ( another alternative beside online shopping ) as long as you have address in UK but haven't tried that yet.

Due to Oz Currency being so strong these days, I recommend to shop from UK website ( if possible and they approve your credit card ).

Another thing, anyone kindly enough to tell me how much is batignolles horizontal in oz?

Cheers!!

I haven't bought that way but I just wanted to add, every time I use my citibank card online through overseas sites they have trouble authorising it. If I use my westpac MasterCard, I have no issues. For some reason citibank cards have issues when using them on a site for the first time. They always have to perform checks on it which sometimes involves refunding a small amount and me confirming the amount etc. I try to use my other card where possible to avoid these delays.

Sorry, im trying to get my head around this all... does this mean buying overseas and getting it shipped over would still be just as expensive due to gst and customs charges? The fact that the dollar is so strong right now really doesnt encourage one to buy lv since the usd and euro prices are just depressingly and significantly cheaper :(

WE SUCK :'(

Hi shangvillaruel, I was hesitating in buying locally as well but the bags I want are over $2000 USD and given the fact that I use a mail forwarding service means $2000+ services+postage+ tax from LV store to mail forwarder(8.5 percent or something)+ GST upon arrival(as it is too risky to not claim the value in case the bag goes missing)...

I will still end up saving a bit of money $100-200 but I don't think it's really worth it for the extra hassles(change of mind or whatsoever!)

Hope that helps!
