I'm lucky in that the only LV I've been to, the SA was absolutely lovely. I wasn't dressed that fantastically and after reading threads like these I was terrified, but she was so sweet, went and got the five plus bags I wanted to look at and offered her opinions without forcing me into a sale. Can't wait to go back and see her again for my next purchase!

I'm sorry to hear that some of you have had a negative experience at LV shops. I've been to many LV shops all around the world and I've never had any complaints, not even when I bought my first LV or was not carrying one. Especially the smaller boutiques tend to have really nice SA in my experience - giving advice and such. They only thing I ever noticed is when the shop is very crowded (like their HQ in Paris) the SA tend to 'scan' the customers to 'who would buy the most/looks most interested', but that happens at any store I think.

I've heard that in Sweden SA's are very nice also. Is here anyone to confirm it?
Hi there! Yes, I went to the LV store in Stockholm and the SA's there were VERY nice. I wanted a messenger type bag and the man who helped me (mid 30's, can't remember his name sorry) was very friendly and patient with me. He showed me 5 bags, gave full text and service about the different models and adjusted all the shoulder straps several times so the bags would suit me perfectly. I ended up buying the Abbesses and afterwards he stressed that, if I changed my mind, I could always bring the bag to my local store in Amsterdam and choose a different model. Also, when I was still trying on the different bags, a group of 3 young girls (about 14, also tourists) came in and were asking for multicolor items (small pouch and belt I believe): the female SA was very friendly - showed all items and wasn't grumpy when they didn't buy anything eventually. That same female SA also made some small talk with me when I was waiting for my bag to wrapped up in it's dustbag.

I'm glad alot of you here have had good experience at LV. Mine are very mixed. Sometimes i get really rude SA's and other times they're absolutly kind.

I have this one SA i started a good relationship with. Last time i went into LV she was busy so she get another SA to serve me. This SA was so mean!! I asked her in regards to a bag and it felt like she just wanted me to hurry up and go. I was definatly going to buy the NF in Damier but found the Totally in Azur and i just had to get it. After the purchase i asked the SA about being a VIP. She responded by saying Theres no such thing as VIP. Every LV customer we treat as a VIP. That was total BS!

I always wanted to become a VIP and thought if i asked the SA how to become one. She'd help out but this one was LYING to me.

I believe she answered you correctly because I doubt she would just disclose the ways they differentiate VIP clients from the regular ones. I also doubt there's a standard criteria to meet for being designated "VIP" as it's very dependent on your relationship with the sales associate. After all, they're the ones providing the VIP perks for you (gifts, private event invitations, special requests, etc.) No way to get in by asking, it's really a progression from being a casual customer to being one they'd like to keep for life. Just keep building your relationship with your SA, shop with her regularly, show an interest in upcoming releases and events and a fervor for LE bags!!

OP, if you're planning to shop at the LV stores in NYC, 5th Ave has three very nice gentlemen SAs I know of (not sure if I can post names) but it is usually very busy so it might be hard to get anyone's attention. In that case, I recommend LV SoHo - friendly SAs and less stuffy atmosphere. If you do encounter a mean/rude SA, look them in the eye and say "If you're not able to help me, can you find someone who can?" With confidence!!!

I recently went to the LV "store" in Macy's and they were very nice to me. I'm a 19 year old male, and the sales women had no problem helping me pick out the Speedy 40. She was extremely helpful. A few days later I went to the LV store on Green street and they were all rather nice too. No one working was over 30, and they were playing "FloRida" which was rather strange to me, and when I bought the Sprouse Neverfull, they just rang it up, asked me questions about random things.. Very nice. How ever, I did go to the one in NJ and they were kind of rude to me. I guess the sales women didn't realize I wasn't just a "kid" and actually would have had no problem spending 700-800 dollars on a plastic bag with leather handles. Their loss.

A few of the other SAs and the Manager are also great with me at my LV, but I am faithful to my SA when purchasing.

Amen to that. I've had such negative experiences that I'm taking all future business to the LV website. I'm tired of the snooty sales people I've encountered. I mean, who do they think they are? Just because they work in the store that sells expensive products means nothing. It doesn't give them some elevated status. No one has the right to treat you that way, let alone a sales person who should be happy you're in the store looking around in the first place during these difficult economic times. I am not saying all LV SA's are like this, so don't get me wrong but I haven't had a good experience with one yet. The fakeness just drips from their mouths when you're buying, and if you aren't or heaven forbid you are returning, they look at you like you just climbed out of the trash can.

OMG!!!!
You are so right!
I lived in South Florida for 4 1/2 years and I purchased a few of my Mono bags from the LV store located in Town Center mall in Boca Raton.

Now, if you walked in carrying a LV and acted like a " Boca Babe " then the SA's would be very attentive and extremely helpful. However, don't walk in carrying a Coach or Dooney & Burke which by the way, are great handbag lines; the SA's would treat you like you own them some money... I mean they were really nasty.

I agree with you. that they are programmed to act like they do. I am sure it is to "weed out " what they think are the undesireables.

It is so sad that people who want to spend their own money has to but on fake aires, in order impress someone in order to be treated with respect.

Thankfully, I have been treated well when I have shopped at Saks LV. Then again, the young sale clerks do not intimidate me. I am 46 year old confident female who carries LV. If they do not appreciate my business; I can always leave!!!!!!

This mean SAs talk make me nervous! i have no LV's (yet), but I'm trying to figure out which bag I want, so when I make the plunge I will have the bag I REALLY want. I was hoping to spend some time in store eventually to try on, and fully decide which fit is the best. Hopefully when I do, I will get some one helpful and not mean like many of you have delt with!
