This is very true. I have often seen customers acting & dressing the way they think LV shoppers/owners should behave. It is really embarrassing for them.

Thanks for all the replies!! So sweet! Somebody suggested ordering from Saks because I wouldn't be charged sales tax. There is a Saks in the same mall as the LV store, so I would probably be charged sales tax. We are going tomorrow for another look and will probably pull the trigger on the Manhattan PM. If the SA is rude to me, I will tell her/him that I will not buy from them specifically. If I don't get it tomorrow because the SAs are rude, then I can just order it.

I'm sorry to hear about all the bad experiences some people have had in the LV store. The first time I walked into an LV boutique to buy a bag, I was dressed in jeans and a T-shirt and so was my husband. I was also carrying a no-name, high street bag. The store employees (at Ala Moana Mall in Hawaii) were all very nice and one SA immediately assisted me. I already knew what I wanted to get but I told the SA I was going to try several bags to see which one would suit me best. After about 10 minutes, I had my new bag and the experience at the store was painless.

There is no excuse for treating a potential customer rudely, regardless of what they're carrying or wearing and this goes for ANY store/boutique, not just LV. The customers are the reason they get their paycheck in the first place.

Its so sad some of us have to resort to getting our stuff online. Going into the store, picking out the bag and trying it on in the the store is part of the buying experience! I would feel cheated if I had to order it online to avoid the drama.

I think you're right in tell the SA you're not going to buy the bag from her/him because of their rudeness. If you see another SA in there that courteous, you should buy that same bag from that SA just to show the rude SA what that behavior cost her/him. My mom did that when she was treated poorly by a SA at SCP, it as a slow day and all of the SAs were . That rude SA may never see us again but she does have to face her coworkers every day.

So far this has not happened to me. I have been to LV boutique in Roseville CA. and I have them bring me bag after bag after bag, wallets too, and I leave with nothing. I have even had them call me when the mono speedy came in and them say I changed my mind. They have been pretty nice and I think they know my face now. I ordered a wallet online but plan to go to the store labor day weekend to buy my first bag. BTW it appears that Saks does not sell LV online anymore...right?

I have never had a bad LV experience, and often dress in jeans/shorts and flip flops (designer of course) I even have a couple of SA's who email me regularly. Of course I buy enough they know I am a good customer. That is just my expereience.

I wish that LV admin people could read this and hopefully retrain their SAs...I knew someone in LA who was nice to me...But Gucci people were even worse, and the funny part is I could be earning 10 times more than their SAs but they walk and talk like snobs owning LV designs and stores...

I'm not "wealthy" but I happen to live in a very upscale neighbourhood (scored a great deal on a condo when the builder went bankrupt). I see people all the time that I know must be very well off (single family homes here go for $1M plus) and often they wear raggy jeans, T-shirts, flip-flops, etc. when shopping. SAs should know that you can't tell by how a person dresses - if I were them I'd be more suspicious if someone wore their "Sunday best" to shop in as that just isn't normal. That said, I've been saving for my first LV (I need to lose a large amount of weight and I promised it to myself as a reward) when I reach my goal, but sadly if I find I'm treated like some of you have been when I go to buy it I'll just walk away and buy another brand - it would sour the experience so much I'd never enjoy the bag. I really have my heart set on an LV so maybe I should buy it on line just in case!

I've felt that way when I was in Vegas and Seattle, but I have to say, all the SAs at Scottsdale fashion square are sweet as pie.

i was told off by some security bloke in the selfridges LV bit in London because i touched a zcp - other people were literally putting their grubby paws on them and they said nothing, i just moved it a bit to see the colour as the light caught it.

You should not judge a book by its cover and if SA's have this attitude it is pretty ignorant if you ask me!

I think that depend on the SA, some are very nice and helpful and others think they are VIP, kind of god of the luxury who decide who is allowed to buy in the shop.
The LV of my town have very nice SA's. The only one who was a real b... has left. I fell confortable in this store.
At the LV store of the Champs Elysées I find it very rude and impersonal, like if I was a purse with hands ans legs.
The worst store in my town is Dior, the SA didn't want to help me when she has understood that I "only" wanted to buy a silk scarf, "only spend 100 euros". She said to me "We don't sell red scarves". And I was obliged to go to the scarves and show her and say "this one isn't red?". She wasn't very happy to sell it to me and take her time...that was awful, stupid lady....even if I am a polite person and was dress quite elegant(but even if I have wore a short and flip flop , she is just a SA!Not John Galliano himself!) so I have decided to spend no one more euro in this store! At my LV store, the SA are always nice even if I buy "only" a keyholder for exemple or an agenda refill...so classy!
Sorry for your bad experience

Besides 2 bags I got all of them from the LV store in Oslo, Norway. And they are the best. Always helpful and polite. And when I had trouble whit my Speedy Minilin, the service was excellent. But at the LV in Monaco thet were not polite, so I went to Cannes to bye it insted....

are you talking about the store on 57th street, 5th ave.??????
I don't like that store.
Half a year ago, my husband got a mono NF there for me, the SA had very cold attitude and she forgot to put the receipt in the shopping bag. My husband went back to get the receipt, and the SA even didn't say sorry about it.
Three months ago, I went there to talk to a SA about the new black multicolor zippy coin purse. I was worried about the chipping off. THE SA told me that their wallet were improved, they printed first, then coated, so the color won't chip off again like the groom line..........ect.........
But the truth is my ZCP got chip off veru quickly, badly!!!!!!!!!
My recommandation is to go to the store at SOHO. Every SA there are very friendly. Even if you are only window shopping!!!!

People at my nearest LV boutique are always very helpful and polite but it doesn't surprise me when i hear about rude behaviour in other stores.
First of all, these people have to understand that they are being paid so as to assist and serve clients so I can't see the reason for them being snob. They don't own the store, they are only employees and after all, their object is to sell and keep their clientele. In any case, it's like they're working against LV's reputation in a way.
