Default Help me decide - only 1 WC Papillion left in NZ!

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum - but I'm hoping you can help me out!
I have fallen in love with the watercolour print and am trying to decide between the speedy 35 and the papillion.
In NZ they only have the white speedy and the pap in stock, and only one pap left in the country! I'm leaning towards the pap as I don't like the look of speedy handles when they develop a deep patina/get dirty, and I like carrying bags on my shoulder. Also, you couldn't really take that size speedy out at night could you? I kinda think the watercolour print should go with pretty dresses so the smaller papillion might be a better choice? I currently use a neverfull MM for everyday use. Any opinions would be greatly received as I'm struggling to make my final decision! Everyone on here seems to love speedys...

Welcome to tPF, bunny25!
You're right, the speedy 35 is too large for an evening bag. I have the WC papillon, so I may be a bit biased, but it it lovely. While some people carry it on their shoulders, I don't really like that look. I'm afraid I'll squish it too much! Especially since there's only one left, you should go for it. LV regrets are hard to live with. You could always return it if you change your mind.

I think the WC Papillon is beautiful and doesn't always get the credit it deserves! Go for it! It's a beauty and perfect for going out!!!

Sounds like you want the Papillon (shoulder bag, better size for evening), but you're only considering the Speedy because "everyone on here seems to love Speedys." I think the latter is the wrong way to choose a bag (this is someone who tends to carry bags and wallets that are not the most popular ones on the forum, LOL).

Get the Papillon! You know it's what you want!

I think you're right...I guess I just wonder if there's some magical thing I'm missing about the speedy!?! Also have a wee reservation about the squishing-under-the-arm issue with the papillion - can any pap owners comment on how bad this is - does it cause the bag to become misshapen?

I have neither the Speedy nor the Papillon, so I can't comment on any magical element about the Speedy or on the squish issue of the Pap. But, I've seen some photos of Papillon/vernis Bedford/epi Soufflot owners who avoid the squish issue by looping one strap under the other, then using that now-longer single strap on the shoulder (hard to describe--you can probably find photos with a search or in the Rolling Papillon/Bedford/Soufflot Clubhouse thread). Good luck!

Pearl Vernis, while beautiful, is prone to color transfer and yellowing over time. It seems there were a lot of reports of light-colored Vernis yellowing over time, no matter how careful you are with it.

I would still recommend the Papillon. You'll get more use of it than the tiny Sunset Blvd.

Yellowing?? That is NOT good. It is such a gorgeous pristine colour! Hmm that certainly crushes that dream somewhat!

I'll like WC Papillon over the WC Speedy 35, the 35 is way too big.

So I went into LV last night to purchase the papillion.....and I didn't like it! :(((! So gutted. I just don't think it suited my style. I'm not a pink girl and it turns out it's really pink in the flesh! The salesperson really pushed it as its LE.. Going back tonight to have another look but I think I'll be leaving with a Saleya GM in Damier Azur...Summer is almost here and I'm a blue and white girl! Still doesn't satisfy my need for an evening bag but might put a small bag next on my list!
