I've had mine since Jan. 3rd (also made in France date code AR4007). Mine does have the "sparkle" look on the bottom of the lining. My first thought was---Oh no, someone has returned this bag with something in the bottom. (I'm still a newbie and didn't know any better.) Then I saw photos of others that had the same "sparkle" and breathed a sign of relief.
I suppose I'm one of the lucky ones. Mine looks perfect---only complaint is the sticky zipper.

KimLe, I think my mom and bf are in accordance with you. I'm just trying to do some soul searching to see if I really would be ok with just keeping her.
On the other, Qmocha, I want to know what happens when they call you. I guess I will go to my boutique today and see what they say. They don't have any in stock right now, and I hope my favorite SA is working. I'll also call the Phoenix store that the Tivoli originally came from to ask if they have another. Oh, why can't we just go in, buy our bags and they be top notch? |

What what what?!?! Why do I have to do SOUL SEARCHING in order to be happy with my $1k purchase?!?! KWIM? If you went to get a manicure at a place that does a mediocre job...you wouldn't go back! Sure...tivoli's might be few and far between right NOW, but just like a favourite esthician you just have to spend some time finding the perfect one!
Honestly, kidding aside...my bag only has one spongey spot so I know what you mean. Yours seems like it needs a little more love and care from the one who made it. If you take it to an SA you'll probably hear the "oh well they are handmade so there are bound to be differences, they can't be perfect" shpeal! If I were you, I'd go in and demand an exchange (this coming from recent exchange with an SA yesterday). If they don't have one, tell them to write it down to hold one for you as soon as they get it. Technically since you are making an exchange you should be pushed to the top of the waitlist no? Tell them that they don't want to have to deal with this later when you'd used the bag for a bit and the leather starts fraying at the top because then they won't have a bag that can be resold. |

I know what you mean. I am not a very picky person. However, I see other cheaper bags that are made with perfect glaze job(ex: coach bags). This is ridiculous. And this seems to be strictly a Tivoli PM issue, the ladies with GM doesn't seem to have any problem. All we can do right now is ask for exchange. I do not want to regret it later for not doing so. So far, I have not receive a phone call from my store.

Wow, this is horrible to hear and see the red glaze problem because it is such a fine bag. It is well worth pursuing a Tivoli free from defects at the boutique. Don't settle for anything less than your total satisfaction!

Thanks for all the messages, guys. It is helpful that we are all having to deal with it together.
Potato, I hope you get a perfect one from Hawaii! I'll keep you updated with my boutique visit today, which will have to be after work.

Ok, I just got back from the boutique. Basically, the SA told me (like others of you have been told) that it is not defected and it would be fine. When I asked her if I could at least be called when Tivolis came in so that I could wait and compare, she said yes, but I'd have to go on the bottom of the waitlist! I am also going to call the Phoenix store (again) to see if they have anymore. But, all in all, nothing really got accomplished by today's visit.
My bf and co-workers have been saying that my bag will be fine, and I've showed the pictures. So I am slowly trying to be ok with the fact that I may just keep this one...especially if LV doesn't pull through for me...which, unfortunately, is looking like that will be the case. |

Tivoli is such as nice bag, too bad it is not made with more attention to detail. I definitely believe more than ever that price increases does not follow by better quality. ChocoGrace, you can decide to keep one after the exchange. We can just send it back to get it re-glazed at some point in the future. I will also ask my SA if I can purcahse a spare gold zipper chain. I want one for backup just in case old one starts to rust after repeated use.

^^Qmocha, you are so sweet! I will call the Phoenix store right now and see what they say. Has your store called you back on the status of your Tivoli?

Azatsui, when you post a reply, there is an icon with a gray mountain against a yellow background. That is used for uploading pics. However, the size requirements for the forum is quite small (~190kb) so you will probably have to resize your pictures. Also, can you take them using the macro setting? I think both Qmocha and I did...that way, all of our pictures will be comparable.

They haven't call me yet. My SA told me within 1 - 2 weeks. And she took away my bag. I hope she will remember to call me. To distract myself, I just started looking at new bags that is coming for Spring/Summer. I like the Damier Neverfull and Montorgueil.
