I decided to share this experience so that buyers are aware that having a receipt does not mean that the bag is authentic :)

I use to be so naive back in the day I'm so glad that I have learned alot but this is just messed up in so many ways.I can't imagine how many people she's probably done this to.

I couldn't agree with you more! I was so tempted to buy at craigslist because two of my friends got a great deal on their purses. a minilin and manhattan....so then yeah she got addicted and hooked....she thought all of it will be authentic.
until one day, she got an eye on this multicolore speedy for 400. and i was like doubting...too low for the price...when i saw the bag, yup true enough it was so fake!!!!low quality fake too. so from now on she calls me first before she purchases... she had practically got ripped for $1000 on fake bags... she could have bought at least one new real one.

i guess one more clue is when one tell you it is a gift and they don't remember where they bought it from...called sweet lie. or when you haggle half and they drop the price down quick!

Glad you didn't get taken. There are sites (unfortunately) where one can buy receipts and tags. BE CAREFUL.

I was once fooled too, she posted different picture then sent me like a drop shipping from China so I know its fake because the tracking number is different she said she's from the US so , I did open the package carefully then return it to the post office and tell them I did not want it so it has to be returned without a fee from me then I filed the claims to paypal be careful too with paypal paypal wont guarantee claims if you dont have tracking number good thing that the tracking number is still the same as the tracking number they gave me I just told the post office that I dont want that package so they retuen it to the sender without charge from me....long story anyway..I got my money back with all the hard work

yes they do, they just won't write it on paper. they can also print a duplicate receipt at the store if the owner bought the bag at that store is the original purchaser with the use of their ID.

CRAZY life. There are TONS of fakes on CL but some AMAZING deals to be had. I've purchased some great deals from CL, but it takes HARD WORK and a lot of trust :-/

I have a few CL stories about fake LV's. One the seller swore her Damier Pouchette is real and I had it checked and it was fake. She gave me my money back and told me she bought it off eLuxury and I told her... If truely that is where she purchased it, maybe, someone who works at the fulfillment department did a switch. Other wise, how could it be eLux sells fakes?

Then next time, a lady was selling two LV's and one was real and one was fake. The fake was so good on the outside, it is identical w/nice patina but the inside micro fiber lining was wrong and the date code was in the wrong location. If I hadn't brought my Cite PM for a lining comparison. I would be been scam. Then, I came to find out that she bought it off CL herself. She never had it varified.

Couple of times were Paypal and Ship deals. They send me photos for real handbags with stolen pictures of eBay listing. But I shop on eBay so I recognized the photos right away. I know they were stolen because the locations on eBay doesn't match the locations on Craigslist. Aslo, one stole photos from multiple listing when I ask for more 'details'

So this is what I have learned shopping on Craigslist. It is worth the work because the deals you can get is incrediable! I bought EUC Petite Noe for $200, light patina and absolutely no stain or mark anywhere. Speedy 25 for $100 and had the zipper pull replaced for free.

1) If it was 'a gift' forget it... almost always a fake.
2) Only shop with seller that you can meet face to face. NO SHIPPING! Paypal may be able to protect you, they may not.
**If someone post in your area, who is NOT FROM YOUR AREA. NO BUY.**
3) Ask to meet at the boutique and if the seller is unwilling for any reason. NO BUY.
4) If possible, ask for photos and have it authenticated here at tPF. Make sure you print out the pics of the date code to varified it is the same bag. No picture=NO BUY. Then, ask to meet at the boutique for the exchange, it is safer and have it double checked.
(not all boutique is willing to do it, sometime the SA will check for you. You can ask for a manger but they may or may not do it.)
5) If all else fail but the seller is willing to meet you in person. Do a research on eBay. Find the same item, have IT authenticated by tPF. Then print out photos on the eBay listing and do a comparison. I wouldn't suggust this, unless, you know what you are looking for. If the item has a rasberry micro fiber seud, then bring an item you already own with the same lining and compare. The lining, datecode, hardware and engravings are ususally the dead give away.

I have posted a couple items for sale and it went pretty well, but when I post "warning: Fake" I always gets flagged down... I wonder why.

Craigslist is a place for great deals but definately full of scams, wheather you are buying or selling.

GOOD LUCK!

Wow, thank goodness you know your LV! So many sellers out there are just LIARS. Ebay, CL, Bonanzle.......all these places are just full of them and a lot of them do have receipts....just scandalous.
