I'm debating the same thing (between HK, Japan and TO)! I know there are Japan exclusives in certain locations, but I'm kind of iffy about it since there don't seem to be any pictures of the exclusive items. From what I've heard from family members, the prices are hiked up in HK vs. TO but the tax you save from not buying in TO makes them about even +/-$20.
Have you found any new info on it?

Cheapest place to buy LV definitely is France, out of all EU nations. I travel quite a bit, and I always ended up buying my LV bags in Paris. (Hello, bon marché & Avenue des Champs Elysées!! I miss you so!) LOL.

If you are a visitor and not holding EU passport, you can get a VAT refund.

France: 12%
Italy: 12.5%
Germany: refund after 175 euro, about 12% VAT refund, more you spend, more refund %
Netherland: 10%
Austria: 12.375%

above were in my LV-buying geeky database from couple years ago, don't know if % have been changed.

VAT = Value Added Tax

See below for more details if you are traveling to Europe:

I am paying a visit early next month to Hong Kong and I am still confused if I will buy an LV or not. Kinda scared that I might be taxed when I get back here in the Philippines.

Anyone who can advise what should I do? I'm planning to buy at least 3 bags from Hong Kong. If I will be carrying all of them when I get back how will I declare it? Or not?

hi! i bought a bag from gucci hk and i used it going home. with your situation, it's best to probably just get them in dustbags and don't ask for boxes(you can ask for the boxes in lv greenbelt, just show the receipt, provided you didn't ask for boxes in hk). if you just place them in your checked baggage, i'm sure they won't be a problem. because when we arrived at NAIA, they didn't even bother to check our luggage. we were just lucky? dunno.

oh yay! that's nice to hear. at least I can still get a box from LV GB. All my LVs have boxes and I dont want them to place in their dustbags only. I guess I have to use the bag when I get home and have the 2 put in my luggage. I'll just cross my fingers for the inspection.
