buy new, or buy gently used for a huge savings?

My vote is for gently used but it really depends on the item and the condition.

If its available at the store, I always buy new. But if not, I dont mind buying 2nd hand as long as its mint and complete.

If it means a few hundred dollars, I definetly buy gently used. If it comes down to $30-50 difference between a new or used accessory, I would get it new. When it comes down to a bag, If I save $200, then I would go for used. Otherwise, I think it would be worth it to save up for a new one.

Hahah.... I had been buying gently used, until recently, I have been buying new... I guess it really depend. However if I want to buy some discontinued item of course I will have to buy gently used one.... no choice..

If the savings are good enough, and you have a reliable seller ~ gently used is the way to go. I like that patina head start.

I mostly buy from the store, but I still have half my collection in used condition only because of the discontinued items I was able to get at a very good price. The exception was for the Illovo PM- I couldn't justify buying it new when I was able to get it at half price!

If I don't have the money to buy whatever limited/seasonal item that I want, then I just don't buy at all.

I always buy new too and only bought used once because it was something discontinued. I'd like to buy gently used but I find eBay is such a hassle and my potential savings is not enough for me to go that route.

I generally buy new as I like to get stuff when it first comes out. But if a friend has a gently used item I know to be in excellent condition, I have certainly be known to buy it.

I voted for "buy new," because that's what I do for anything that's still available through the stores.

The only times I have bought pre-owned are when the items are no longer available to buy new--then I have no choice. In those cases, I'm happy to buy pre-owned only if the items are new or in near-new condition.

i'd love to buy gently used.. but i have this huge fear of getting scammed into buying a fake since it happened once over a marc jacobs bag. it may cost more, but i try to buy new in order to ease my nerves and give me peace of mind.
