It's so saddening to hear of these things to a infrequent buyer like myself.
A month is not too long imo.

Also, I think most people in this thread are referring to LE items. Popular items from the permanent collection like the Tivoli will eventually be available for purchase by just about everyone, so you need not worry about this bag.

all the LE bags will be automatically offered to top clients first, if they are not interested than it would be offered to other, or "public". Al top clients ranking from spending top down will get whatever they want, while other would simply have to wait. So if u like something, just grab it, do not put it on hold to think about it.

usually if there is a bag that I said looks nice (but not necessarily wanted..), my SA will call and ask if I wanted it...if not, she will give it to the person on the waiting list.

I don't think waitlists mean much. The only "list" I put myself on are for seasonal bags before they are in production..and when they are launched, I get them.

Before when I have been on a waitlist, I have asked where I was on the list (just to get an idea of how long my wait actually is going to be). They never have told me b/c the waitlist can change - probably meaning that people get bumped. I also have gotten calls from SA's about LE bags and hard to find bags without actually being on the waitlist for them. I had expressed an interest in them while shopping at LV though. This is how I got my brown WC speedy, Tivoli GM, etc.

would i feel bad if it was offered to me and it was waitlisted for another person? hmm....

1) NO, why? SA offered it to me even though he/she knew it was NOT available at the moment for me. And because SA's knows that maybe sometimes 25% of all waitlist doesn not come back or honor their items they are waiting for.. I know that because my SA Courtney from Forum shops told me so!! She said most of those people on the waitlist do not buy or by the time they go thru the list and call people, most of them do not have the money so they pass it on to the next person.

2) Of course, I would not feel bad if it was offered to me, because I really want it...and do not want to wait if I have the money right then and there, cash!!!! that would be stupid for the stores to not honor my request. And I think that is one of the reasons why some and maybe most SAs offer someone elses waitlisted items to customers because they would rather sell now that have to get a NO, I do not have the $$ right now from the person on the list...

3) I would feel real important and valuable to the company, that they even offered it to me even though it does belong to someone else. That would build a great rapport between me and the SA. That makes me feel important, that they do go out out of their way sometimes to make you happy.

You know you have spent too much at LV if they bump you up the list. What people don't know wont hurt them right? I guess its not fair... but life is like that sometimes.

I was totally bumped up. I explained I needed a graphite the multiple wallet the day after it was released and my SA heard my desperation (BF's birthday was the 2 days after the graphite release and he drooled over the graphite once it was out) and he put aside a graphite multiple for me even though there was a HUGE waitlist. He has now become my favourite SA.

My SA just called me this past weekend ask me if I want to get the Shimmer Comete in PInk. I wasn't WL on it. And I don't really have much feel for this bag. But I am thankful that my SA even call me about that. She has now become my favourite SA.

I have WL for the graphite Renzo with her too... for my DH anniversary + Birthday present!!

Waitlists mean nothing here. I was first on the list for one of the new season bags ( even sent the SA the pic from on here, without giving out details of the website) and didn't get the bag. SA had not even heard of the bag before. I certainly won't be sending/giving them info in the future.

Well, for one thing it isn't our job to worry about other customers not getting a bag promised to them, it is the job of the SA who made that promise to follow through. The SA made the decision to offer it to someone else so they will have to live with it if the other person comes in and the bag is not there. No customer can force an SA to do anything. So if I was offered something that was really being saved for another and I wanted it, yes I would take it.

From their perspective, each SA wants to sell as much as possible but minimize returns. So it behooves them to sell to people with money or credit card in hand right then who they think will most likely keep the bag. Why take the chance on selling to a person they don't know who is on the WL when they could just sell it right then to their loyal customer? The person they don't know may not even come in for the bag or they may just return it. Then another SA could get ahold of the bag and they lose the sale completely. Also their loyal customer may try to get the bag from somewhere else. So they are really just being pragmatic, not unethical.

Question, if we return the bag to another store, will our SA know about it? will it affect their quota?

I have my favorite SAs for LV or Chanel, or whatever that I go to everytime. If I want something, they will get it for me. My LV SA has my CC#, but always calls before he charges anything.

I did once have an SA at a different store pull someone's name off of a box and give it to me. When I asked her what she was doing, she said the person didn't want it, I think she just wanted to make the sale, but what you do then, when you don't really know.
