Depends on what you call normal I guess... I've had mine for 7 Months and used it every. single. day. for about 5 months, since it was my only designer bag and I was so in love with it. I dont see a single scratch on my Epi. I'm not really carefull, afterall they're meant to be used, not stuffed and displayed.

I have a red pochette wallet in my bag everyday and it gets shoved around all the 'things inside and NO SCRATCHES!
And the bags are almost indestructable, just wipe.

I have an epi pochette (for years) and an epi Eugenie wallet that I use every day, The wallet looks as good as the first day I bought it. There are no scratches on the pochette but it does have a small dent. I don't know how it happened or if it can be fixed. Thats my only problem with Epi.

One time I bumped my Epi piece into a heavy metal door edge and it left a dent, but the damage was less serious than I expected from a hit like that.

the older epi holds up better than the newer softer epi.
My older noes look brand new, but the ones with the softer epi got wrinkles at the drawstring areas with little usage.
I also notice wrinkles on the speedy and I did not use it that much.
