This is why I hardly ever use my damier azur...I want to preserve its light colour and I'm scared it'll get dirty. The handles already have a couple of water marks so a bit unhappy about that.

Vachetta is French for "cowhide". It is a raw untreated high quality grain cowhide. Louis Vuitton only uses the best.

As with all light leathers, after use, the sun and weather effects and use turn the bag to a dark brown.

It happens with Hartmann bags too. Hartmann bags come with a light honey color and after a few years it turns to a dark brown with use.

Keeping it in the dust-bag will only slow down the patina. It's usually a mix of oxygen,sunlight,hand-oils, and he bags natural oils. It is kinda inevitable unless you keep it in a airtight room.

It just depends on the use of the bag. Sometimes a bag might take 6-7 years to patina, while others it would happen in a matter of months.

Hope that helped!

Nope Vachetta is meant to darken with time.

Vachetta leather is used in the trimmings of luggage and handbags, popularized by Louis Vuitton. The leather is left untreated and is therefore susceptible to water and stains. Sunlight will cause the natural leather to darken in shade, called a patina.

Love the natural process of the vachetta to have its honey tan color. I don't want it to be pale in color when it's new. a week or two is ok.

also, patina is not just a leather handbag term. the term is used to describe anything that has aged. copper patinas into a aqua green color. zinc patinas to a rusty orange color. etc.
