Default LV colour loss
Hi, I'm going to need a travel bag for a trip so I was going to get the Monogram Macassar Keepall 45, my first LV. The salesperson brought me the folded bag. When I checked it out, there were a couple of "folds" on each side of the bag. (Sort of like this.) Fair enough, that's the way it's folded and they'll work themselves out. However, on those folds or "kinks", it looks like there's some colour loss. I mean, the canvas is lighter on those bumps than the rest of the canvas. And it doesn't change to normal when I unbend the kink.

I spoke to the salesperson about this and she had never seen it before. She checked all the rest of them and they were all like that. She agreed that it looked like colour loss and said it may have been a faulty batch. I then went to another LV store, the bags looked the same, and the salesperson there said it was normal and would work itself out. I don't know which to believe! Anyone else experienced this?

And while I'm here, I was wondering about LV canvas in the rain? I mean the macassar is black leather so no worries there, but how about the canvas? Does that get stained or ruined by rain?

I suppose how badly the canvas is affected depends on how much rain it is exposed to. My canvas bags have had rain and water splashed on it and are fine. I would say moderate amount of rain water should be ok but not being drenched in rain. If you are concerned, get the Apple Garde rain and stain repellent and spray this on before you venture out with the bag.

The folds should be fine. Use the bag lots, or pack it up tight and let it expand over several nights. Sometimes because the fold lines are still sharp, they may cause the canvas to reflect light at certain angles fooling one into seeing a "colour loss" vision. Mine took a dozen times of using it to ease back the fold lines.

Hi has anyone noticed how the older Louis Vuitton lines uses darker coloured cowhide leather while the leather in the new Speedy, Hampstead lines looks a lot lighter?
