So I am on my 2nd DMT since ordering in April, I shipped it back in May and they exchanged for a new one, I've had this one for not even two weeks and it's starting to do it again. The thread/stitch right above the grommet where the straps connect to the bag...if that makes sense. The stitches between the grommet and the ring keep breaking. I asked what kind of thread it was, I might try to fix it myself.

That sucks! Sounds like a major manufacturing defect! Are you going to send it back again?

Waiting on a reply. I am having concerns this is likely to keep happening. I keep looking side by side at the bags and the zip tote stitches appear the same distance but maybe like more layers of thread? I'm carrying less in this bag than in the zip tote and even less than the first medium in case it was weight related. I'm very sad about this bec I waited three years for scotch to be back and in this bag and now in two months I'm about to have to return the 2nd one.

Not sure if you can see that.

In the pic there, on the left side of that strap you can see the thread is totally gone. ON the right, it's unraveling and about to be out. Same has started on this new bag already, that bag had all four with an issue, this only has one of the 4 connections going. I can sort of tell on my Zip Tote that there's more passthroughs of thread, meaning they looped it through more times than on the Medium. The Medium seems to have 2 maybe 3 revolutions, where the Zip Tote has what looks like 5. Maybe that's part of it? I don't really want to keep sending back and forth...hopefully when they reply we can figure something out. But this stitching is what keeps the straps intact.

Just looked at my small speedy - cuz it's out - it has a lot of revolutions. I can see a difference.

I am guessing then that it just needs more revolutions. I assume this is heavy duty thread...so I guess I could go to the fabric store and see if I can find some. Probably unholstery? Still waiting for a reply from LP.

Stitching seems to be a common problem with LP. My mom and I combined have had 3 LPs with threads coming apart. I fixed one of them myself and my mom took her two bags to a repair shop.

This is the first I have ever had. I emailed them again and their Customer Service manager just emailed me about sending it back for a replacement. I did tell her exactly what I think it might be...I think it's based on how many "revolutions" of thread go through each join on each strap. My zip tote has at least 5 on each join, this has 2 or 3 each join.

Mine always unravel there, I just pull them out when they've gotten so far and that's that. The strap still stays put so for me it's no biggie.

This bag already is showing a stress in that strap, where the other did not. I figured if the third does it, Im just going to get upholstery thread or sometihng and fix it myself. I did ask them what kind of thread it is, and they wanted to replace it. It's definitely less stitched than the older bags, esp of the Zip Tote.

I got the replacement today, no thanks to Fedex lol

I did speak with the head of their customer service dept and they have the two I have sent back and can see exactly what the problem is, so they were planning a QC discussion about this. I might alert them if the new one does the same, but I might just fix that one myself with more thread. I assume it's upholstery thread, so hopefully it works just fine in that instance.

I hope so too! I might make a trip to Joann fabric and see if they have any thread that could work should I need it. I just need to get through my vacation and then I can deal with it again later.
