hi! i have a danielle wallet in tobacco and i pretreated it with wilson's tlc spray. i haven't had a chance to use her but the tlc spray i think would definitely help protect her. it didn't destroy the leather at all. hth!

Hi everyone! I'm a newbie from over at the HH forum, but have just bought my first (used) LP bag and had a question... I've PM'd a couple of people, so if they see this I apologize for double-dipping. I got the pumpkin double-pocket Dylan messenger that was on the bay, and it arrived looking great but a little parched. I'll definitely treat it with the Wilson's spray, but the posts on this thread seem to be a little contradictory about whether or not I could use my Wilson's conditioning/cleaning lotion on it...

A few people have mentioned it, but Stormy said early on to "never use lotion on your washed leathers!" and I know this one is washed...

Has anyone used the Wilson's lotion on a light-colored Dylan leather?

Thanks!!

^^ I'll respond to my own post... Syb smartly suggested I test the TLC conditioner on the leather swatch (that was kindly included with the bag!!) and it worked PERFECTLY. Didn't darken the leather one iota. I just finished giving the bag a good conditioning (it soaked it up like it was thirsty) and will spray it tomorrow with the protector. So I'm sure the Pumpkin is darker than the Citrine or Cognac, but the Wilson's didn't change it. Just smoothed the leather even more. It feels more fluid now, and my fingers don't make a raspy sound anymore when I brush them across it. Thanks Syb and Cooper!!!

ack! This is so stupid but it really happened - the vanilla fell out of my cabinet and landed on my new, luscious, red LP dylan tote from the sample sale. What the heck! And, because I suffer from 'forget-to-really-tighten-the-dang-top' syndrome (it drives my husband insane) the stinkin vanilla leaked. I am such a jacka**. So, what do you suggest?

The LP care card said that if there are spots to pinch them so theyre raised and gently scratchthe spot with a clean finger or thumb to let the natural oils come out. If staining occurs, wipe with mild water-soap combo. I tried the soap and water...waiting for it to dry. ....

^^^ Oh NO!!!
While I was reading through the C&F thread, I thought I saw a post (by Stormy) where she mentioned that the enzyme washed leathers (like the Dylans) were actually washable..? You might take a look back through the thread. Or I could have dreamt it.

For clarification: Never use oil-based conditioner lotions on washed leather.
Although TLC is water-based, it can splotch LP leather even if it is shaken hard first, and applied very evenly.Use at your own risk.

Jenni, you have a good memory. It's not a dream

siouxie, look for the alcoholic sugar spill posts...vanilla might stain a little and whatever you do - if you see red color coming off - stop !

Question...I have been using the Uggs brand leather/suede protectant (started using it just on my Uggs, but since started using it on my bags too...but I wanted to know if anyone has used it on LP bags? I just got my long speedy in leaf, so it definitely would show more stains and needs to be treated. This is my first brighter colored bag an I am afraid of using the Ugg brand spray, even though it hasn't caused me any issues on my bronze, brown or black bags. Any advice?

hi breezie,
Your Uggs formula is probably fine to use on Leaf. Test the spray first on your leather swatch, allow to dry and watch for color change or splotches.
Most of these products are virtually the same. Let us know your results !

Ok, the weird thing is that my Leaf bag didn't come with a swatch....
I ordered it directly from LP, so not sure why it didn't come with one? So I feel scared to try it directly on my bag, yikes!

Just wanted to update that I went ahead and used my Uggs formula on my bag & my LP wallet too...everything turned out great. So, if anyone has it, it is safe to use. I did about 3 coats on each and it turned soaking wet, then dried very quickly, leaving no spots at all.

Thank you MissBreeze! Can you tell us details about how well it sprays, smells, and drying time ? Nice to have another alternative but I figured if it's good for Uggs, all tender leather and suede would love it. Plus, your LP is lamb and Uggs are sheep, so the formula would be compatible.

Sorry, I was out of town all weekend and just saw this! It sprays pretty evenly, a few droplets, but nothing too bad and since I had used it on my Uggs so many times, I was pretty sure it wouldn't be a problem. I just sprayed it evenly until it was wet all over and seriously, it dried in like 10 mins...probably still damp, but it no longer looked soaked and left no marks. I applied 3 coats and used it a couple hours later. It has no scent that I have ever noticed and I am a freak about scents bc I get migraines.

I used it on my LP wallet too and it looks great, so glad I decided to go ahead and use it!

I am thinking of purchasing my first LP, in fuscia. Has anyone tried AppleGard on LP leathers? I don't see it mentioned here. I used it on an Elliot Lucca washed leather (the cream plus spray) and it left a few small darker spots, though this may have been from the cream and not the spray. Post #57 has me a wee bit nervous. Thanks.

Hi Linda !
Did you get Danielle or BCA ?
I'd say your marks were from the cream, because creams are not meant for washed leathers. Even water-based TLC lotion marks LP.
Regular rain and stain sprays are OK, but test your AG spray on the swatch.
Danielle is a geranium pink with a smoother surface, BCA is a magenta and more matte. You are good to your bags, so I wouldn't worry about Post 57 (that's a 911). Just follow the LP's simple pinch & scrape with fingernail for small spots, and hand rub small scrapes (from nails, keys etc) out .Your skin oil and those naturally in the bag come to the surface, and are all the conditioning you need, really. Mine get a massage with clean hands before slipping into their sleeping bags. Everyday wear will show marks but they disappear with this small beauty trick. Stubborn marks take a regular eraser. It's easier to maintain LP than any other bags I know, thanks to the inherent leather quality.
I hope you love your new LP ! They are embossed with your initials !
