Thanks ladies
Glam, it was fun! We are going back in September for a week and we will get to do more because the 9 month old came with us this time and we didn't want to keep him out in the heat for too long, it was 95 degrees or more everyday we were there. When we go back we are going to take Wyatt by himself and go swimming with the dolphins and go out on the boat, just stuff we couldn't do with the baby.

This may seem a little silly, but...... one of our hamsters suddenly got sick. He was really lethargic and I don't even really want to go into the rest b/c it was just really sad that I couldn't do anything for him. My son said, can't we take him to the vet? I had to explain that vets don't do anything for such small animals like hamsters. So I'm sad.

vets will most definetly treat a hamster. i had a rabbit for 10 years and she was seen by the vet routinely.

call your vet or an animal emergency clinic right away.

Legsie, sorry for your hamster loss.
You might want to look for a vet that deals with exotics or pocket pets. I have 3 bunnies and they've all been to the vet for regular checkups and lifesaving care.

most vets do take small pets like hamsters and guinea pigs but a lot of people dont because they dont think its worth the money so a lot of people think they dont treat them. my poor hammie died before his vet appointment :( i have chinchillas too and most vets dont know anything about them.
yours is in hammie heaven though now with his favorite treats :)

Thanks for your kind words, too. I think he was too far sick for any help by the time I saw him this morning. He made me cry b/c I could tell he was suffering, yet didn't know why. He was very lethargic, eyes open, but not moving except to "scream" in pain. Sorry- being honest here. It was very heartbreaking.
I hope he has plenty of carrot sticks.
