Default is b&w striped TRENCHTOWN canvas COATED?
or just plain fabric?

does anyone find that canvas bags get easily marked up?

i LOVE the b&w striped -- but i like the coated one (like grey lamb marchmont) because you can beat the daylights out of it probably :)

It is plain untreated canvas.

Scotchguard this baby like mad before you take her out because the white attracts dirt pretty easily.

It's a beautiful bag and worth the effort!

I never scotchguard mine and I regretted it...it does get dirty quickly and the leather is very soft. However it's totally worth collecting!

I have two trenchtown bags and used scotchguard on them, they would be a mess without it.

I have a Trenchtown wallet that I absolutely LOVE!! Right, lambies?! LOL! It stays inside my bag(s) so I don't worry too much since I got it used and at a killer price (under $60)!!!

I have a brand new mandalay canvas B&W bag and the back part is starting to get wrinkley. Is there any way to stop this from happening. I tried coach moisturizer on it and cleaner in it since I had a small dirt stain on the white stripe that took it right off. Any suggestions ladies for me?

ooh - don't use Coach moisturizer.

Try getting Wilson' or Appleguard (Apple Care Leather Conditioner). There's a coupon for 20% off apple products right now and they ship super fast (I got my order in two days).

www.leatherstuff.com
Use code: Purseforum for 20% off.

What does Scotchguard do the material? As in-- does it change the feeling of the material?

I got a Henna Bihar from the sample sale and it looks really vulnerable to getting dirty, and I want to take all steps to protect it, but at the same time I don't want to sacrifice how soft the material feels, I'm stuck, lol.

It was mentioned a while back that the Henna bags are prescotchguarded. You got my HG L.A.M.B.!!

I can tell you - I sprayed the hell out of my bihar. I used the apple guard rain protectant, sprayed it until it was soaked - including the handles! I used a pant-hanger to hang it to dry (handles over the hanger, not clipped) and it took about a day.

I can honestly say I've carried it at least a dozen times without a mark. I'm also not the "neatest" person with my bags - I'll put them down on the floor at work, carried them with sweaters (no pilling!), and it's still looking fab!

Spray first - add a second coat if needed - then dry and use!

Even if its prescotchguarded I still feel like it's vulnerable.. I might be being paranoid but for good reason I think, lol.

Is the Apple Guard Rain Protectant interchangeable with the Scotchgard? I'm not sure where I would get-- I've never heard of it, lol! Yeah, I think the handles are ESPECIALLY susceptible to getting dirty. I wanted to carry it out tomorrow but I'm having second thoughts since I haven't treated it or anything.

Do you find that after spraying it, the feel of the fabric changes? (i.e. does it get stiff)

One more thing, when I bought my Henna Bihar, there's glue on the handles underneath the arrows, I attached pictures! How do I get rid of it?? It doesn't look as bad in real life, though.

Sorry I keep asking questions, lol, after seeing your miracle work with the Saddle Alston, I think you would be one of the people to ask, lol.

Gee -- Thanks

Glue can be tricky. Can it be rubbed of with your fingernail? If so, just pick it off. It shouldn't damage the straps.

If not, then you might want to try some rubbing alcohol on a q-tip. Rub gently in circles.

As for the protectant, I would apply a second coat yourself. I knew it was pre-treated, but saw some ebay listings of the Aberdeen print and it was a mess! I didn't want to take that chance.

I know someone else used a sneaker spray for canvas and it worked. I've never actually used the scotchguard brand spray, but the apple care is available online at www.leatherstuff.com. Use the code "Purseforum" for 20% off. They get orders out nearly same day, and it's priority mail so they arrive fast! I got my order within 2 days.
