Thumbs down Cleaning Frosted LOVE bags

I mentioned a couple months ago that I bought a frosted silver capri that was (ab)used, for a semi-goodish deal. I've felt so guilty about buying it that it's just been sitting here, but I decided to grow a pair of lambie balls and get to cleaning it!

I was going to take it to a professional cleaner but the two closest to me have so-so reputations. So I want to try to clean this baby myself...does anyone have any tips?? Mild soap and water has been able to get specific stains out but the bag still has this kind of...film of dirt on it...I can tell it's dirt and not wear to the leather.

I've seen some of you mention that Apple cleaner, I plan to buy that, but does anyone have any other additional suggestions?? I appreciate any tips, I'm so embarrassed, I have to turn this black sheep of my collection into a pretty and dignified lamb!

I wonder how you would clean the frosted as well... i bought a frosted silver wallet a while back from nordies .com... and it is filthy! It came like that. I plan on returning it but i do wonder, if it could be cleaned. I hope someone can answer this for you junebug.

I'm pretty sure they're supposed to look like that because they are "frosted"

^ Look like what? Dirty? I have seen them brand new and yeah, they kinda' of a spotted thing goin' on cuz of the frosted but, this wallet i have compared to that is definitely worn and dirty. I can only speak for mine though, not junebugs bag, cuz i haven't seen it.

Oh hon I WISH that were the case, but no, this bag is definitely dirty. I've seen new frosted bags in person and they look a bazillion times better than the one I have. I know what you mean though, they have a "scuffed" look about them, but unfortunately that's not what's going on with my bag.

lambiepie, Nordstrom has been really disappointing me when it comes to online orders. I got a Rasta Commodore from them back in November and it was totally used, had scuffs and marks on the print, and a thread was missing from the strap. Two other lambies that I know of also got crappy bags. I sent them a letter of complaint and they called me to get details and apologized but what's their deal??

I'd be really gentle with it, or you may end up taking off the "frosted" part.

Oy! I'm having the same dilemma with my white Glazed bag. I've already noticed an area where the "glazing" was flaking off!

It seriously looks like peeling skin. . I'm almost tempted to use whatever I can to clean it, and if it takes off the glazing and leaves a nice leather behind, I"m okay. But what if I ruin it?

I have always had my items from .com come perfect... always. Until this frosted wallet. And it's an older item so obviously someone had it for awhile, but why use it to death and then return it? And why oh why does nordies allow this?? They say everything has to be inspected first before they resell them but.... i don't think that is the case anymore. Too many of us have had problems now.

lambiepie, you might wanna ask nordies to clean it for you since you bought it there.. they offer complimentary cleaning/conditioning for all leather stuff..

junebug, might wanna ask Luna about this..

I'm trying one more thing as a last ditch effort....

I ordered apple leather products to try to get it back to shape but at this point, I think it's beyond repair.

It's flaking really bad, and I don't think it will stop. this photo is a bit dark, but it shows the damage.

Plus, it's discoloring from the prior leather cleaner - I think it's ruined completely!

Yes, it's the white...or at least it was white---kinda yellowish now.

Here's another pic:

If I can't get it fixed, it's going on eBay for a bargain basement price....hence, the pics.

yvalenz...can you contact LAMB for repairs? or advice? that should not be happening. looks like the glaze is defective. Or, can a leather shop or cobbler maybe re-glaze it for you?

sorry about your bag.

^ Already tried both. The leather repair store indicated that once the glazing is cracked it cannot be fixed.

An email to the Schifter & Partners Co has had no response. I'm considering re-sending the email with pics attached so they can see the damage.
