As some of you may know I have been on the hunt for a Saddle Alston since the late 80's. After seeing the latest wave of them hitting eBay I have asked myself if I really need it and is it too similar to all my Mandevilles (plus I have a WL Alston). I have also been thinking about the Carlisle in Saddle. This may be a better option for me as I do not own a Carlisle, and it can be carried 2 different ways. Thoughts?

The Carlisle is one of my favorite bags however, Alstons as we all know are very hard to come by especially in saddle....my opinion would be to get the Alston you would have it forever and I loves me some big bags. It also does have some distinctions from the Mandeville besides the size difference like the front and inside pickets. Do you own a saddle Mandeville? I can not remember? In the long run though you MUST add a Carlisle to your collection and they come out in all the prints it seems so you shouldn't have a problem there...But go get the Alston they are too hard to come by and since you wanted it for a while now.....

I feel like you've been pining away for that Alston forever. It would be much easier to get a Carlisle than an Alston in the future. I say go for the Alston.

I think you already have the alston from eBay (finally!)

But its hard to even compare these 2 bags, a Carlisle is a lamb staple piece tho!

Get on it!

It truly is. I still say you can never go wrong with the 3 basic colors either....Saddle, Silver, Rasta! But then again, you'll pry my cold dead hands from my Cheetah prints too.
