Default Security Alarms and Kooba
Has anyone had any problems constantly setting off security alarms in stores with their koobas? My mom's Meredith seems to do it (I thought it was her iPhone case but), now that I got a new yellow Elisha, I'm setting off the alarms too. I don't have anything different in my bag that I don't hold with any others (including Kooba) but this is all new to me. Any suggestions? I might return the bag if I can't resolve this.

Wow - how odd! I've never had that happen. I hope you're able to figure it out and keep your lovely yellow Elisha!

I have had this happen several times while carrying my Sienna. I didn't put 2 & 2 together at first, but I did finally figure out it was only when carrying that bag! Also it doesn't do it in all stores, so it must be certain systems. I set off Walgreen's every time!

I had sold a BNWT Kooba Elisha on eBay, and the buyer contacted me to ask if I had left a sensor in it (which I did not). She said the security alarm went off as she was leaving a Belk store and she couldn't figure out what else it could have been!

I also wanted to add that I have not had any problems with alarms going off with any of my Koobas (devin, elisha, carly, bow wallet).

Thanks for all your responses! This is my third Kooba so I was a little weirded out. I have yet to decide if I'm going to return it...we'll have to see how annoying it gets.

one way or another, a kooba always manages to draw attention.

Well, it looks like Borders decided it for me! After setting off the alarm today, they placed my bag on their de-magnetizing panel and I haven't set off any alarms since! Hope this info helps!

I've had this happen with a different bag and for the life of me, couldn't figure out what it was. I came home and opened every compartment, zipper, pocket and sure enough - there was one of those little 'stick" sensors hiding inside!

they're pretty small (only about 1") and mine was black so i couldn't see it - it's about the size of the ones that they stick on to CD cases. Does that make sense?

Having another store "demagnetize" it is also a good idea!

Sorry I don't have a Kooba and really don't know what your mom's bag looks like, but just wanted to add that I have the same problem with one of my Linea Pelle bags, it has a lot of metallic studs, maybe thats the reason for mine.

Some times a small security magnetic strip may be left inside the bag. Did you check all the pockets? I've heard the magnetic strip will set off alarms.
