I used Saddle Soap on a bag once and ruined it. LMB re-furbished the bag but says handbags are not the same type of heavy duty leather that saddles are and should never be treated with saddle products. She said it changed the PH of the bags leather and will eventually ruin the leather. I had heard that one person's pag actually started to form mold on it after using a saddle product.
Be careful.

I was seriously reminiscing about the good old days and so I started to go through some of the older threads for quiet rememberances. I thought I would bring up this thread because, with all due respect to Halzer, it really was quite entertaining. And, I was wondering how the vaseline application was holding up.....I love the Brynne. Sigh. I hope it comes back again. Sigh...................

Lord, I remember this! I gasped when I read it. I would never have been brave enough to try it and was relieved that it turned out well.

Funny that this old thread popped up again. Because of Hali, every once in a while I Vaseline my Black Balenciaga City. That's the only bag I've ever done it to, because it was a bit too dry. The Vaseline really does give it a nice deep color and remedies any dryness longer than LMB or Apple Guarde.

I haven't tried this on any other bags though, because I'm afraid it will affect my ability to resell it. I know I'll never get rid of my Black City.

Cheers to Hali for an experiment done well!

Hey, KoobaLover! I am really curious about that vaseline treatment that you are giving your b-bag.....I always figured that vaseline is a petroleum product, and I just can't wrap myself around the fact that I'd be putting on refined crude oil on my bag. But, apparently, it does seem to work. i hope everything is going well for you! And...Halzer!!
