I know this has been asked alot but I'm concerned about what to use on the different types of leathers such as:
glazed leathers on Katy,Blake, Jagger,Jacinda
python embossed leather such as my Gracie
pebbled lambskin such as Paige & Ada
regular lambskin such as Natasha

I used Lovinmybags once on a Lucy and it messed with the color - they were great though, and I sent it to them and they fixed it free of charge!

My glazed Jacinda seems a little dry so I was wondering if you use leather moisturizer then a protector?

Also, have you ever had a product remove color? What products don't do that? I emailed Kooba customer service and got no reply from them!
Thanks! Cyndee

Hi.

I'm also looking for help with cleaning the leather on my black Kooba Talia. Will mink oil or saddle soap hurt the finish on this leather? I have some LMB products for my LV, but I don't know what would work on the Talia. Any advice appreciated! Thanks!!

I do know you're now supposed to use mink oil or saddle soap - they will ruin you're bag. I heard lots of recommendations for Apple and Wilson's products but I also was wanting to hear what results gals here have had with their Koobas!

Bumping this thread as my one and only Kooba, rose Josie, really needs a good cleaning. In fact, it always needed a cleaning from day 1. I had purchased at Blue Fly. Don't know what leather the Josie is, anyone know?

The girl that I bought my Kooba Jillian in smooth black leather said that she used Coach Moisturizer regularly to treat the handbag. The leather on the bag is in excellent condition. I haven't gotten a chance to buy the Coach Moisturizer yet but I definitely will. I'm not sure how this product would work any other leather type.

I don't like the Coach cleaner, but the moisturizer is good. I too like the Wilson's. I've used it on a Katy and it worked just fine.

You know, I never treat my leather with a thing. Everything works out fine. I am just careful with my bags and I just don't feel the need to treat any of them.

I know, I have never treated any of mine either. I read a lot here of appleguard etc. so wondering if I should start. I know my Kooba definately. I'll let you know how it turns out. Maybe I'll take before and after pics too

I'd be interested to see what the outcome was. In all my years, I have never treated a leather bag and I lived to tell about it. The only thing I can say is that I've stayed away from suede. That would require treatment.

I'll keep you posted. I just wanted to buy some regular leather cleaner though, don't feel like ordering online. I'll see what I can pick up.

I have an older Kooba Virginia and the Coach leather cleaner works just fine, since the leathers are similar (Coach is fairly specific on their site as to what kinds of leather the stuff should be used on). I just won a distressed leather Kooba (I think it's an old Bridget) on eBay and have no clue how to clean that. I've never used the LMB stuff--their site looks great. Good to hear they stood behind their product even when it failed.

I think leather is hard to clean no matter what. I have recently taken some of my worn bags into my shoe repair guy, they sometimes have been able to help. I also just learned of this site pulitopurse.com, so I'm thinking of sending a bag to them to see if they can restore it. I'll let you know how they work out.

Lovinmybags.com and avelle.com do restorations too. I've not been treating my bags so far but I need to. BEWARE - the metallic Koobas really rub off - I ADORE my Katy in Pewter and it's having this problem so I know I need to get protector for it. Also my Logan in Teal is looking like it's starting to have some slight color rub off issues and I haven't used it much at all. I think if you want to keep Koobas looking great for a long time you really need to treat them.
I'm going to look into the Wilson's TLC and Apple products!

I called Avelle/BBOS about a Bill Blass I have (got it on clearance 65% at NM Last Call) and they said they were about EIGHT MONTHS out in accepting new bags for cleaning.

Lovinmybags has great products. I use that and Coach cleaner/moisturizer on my Koobas (depending on the leather type).

IMHO a lot of metallics eventually have problems. My bronze Furla has slight 'chipping' or 'pitting." I have a metallic mink Kooba Hudson that so far is hanging in there but it's really really soft so perhaps doesn't get abraded as quickly as a stiffer leather bag might.

I wonder if someone makes a 'preventative' for metallic leather bags?
