I just got my Cognac Sienna today. I would agree that the leather straps are a little stiff but mine does not have such a pronounced crackled look as yours.

The leather on mine is thick and smooth and a slightly distressed look. It does have a leathery smell. The leather on yours doesn't look bad, with the exception of the handles.

I don't like the tag. Why would a price be left off. No Kooba bag I have seen ever had a blank price. I have seen ones with a wrong price but not any price at all.

Also, do you know for a fact that the Stamped Logo is correct? I am thinking by the time the first Siennas came out they were using the metal plaque.

Your bag could be a Triple A fake or real. I guess you could try contacting Kooba about the Stamp on their very first Siennas.

I'm sorry there is still so much question on this bag. Being this is your first Sienna it's hard to say whether the bag is okay or it is just your expectations that are off on the leather. I was under the impression you saw or had an older Sienna or knew first hand what they were like. All I can compare it to is my new Sienna which is quite different. I was always "Wowed" by my Koobas and especially the Sienna so that makes me wonder. Like you said and I agree, you can't compare Kooba leather to Balenciaga leather (It's like apples and oranges) but the leather on Siennas always have been noticable high quality leather.

I got myself a Baca and a Torlia Gustto. Amazing stuff!

I do know that the stamps were definitely used on the earlier Siennas (that's actually one of the things I disliked about later Siennas). I think the metal plates came into the picture at the same time the suede linings did. I remember when I first was considering getting a Sienna bag. Luggage was the color I wanted, but I learned about them too late and you could no longer get it. The new colors for the following season were coming out, and the bags were lined with suede (this was also around the same time that the Kooba Frankie was originally released). The emossing on the end of the bag was also replaced with the metal plate. I remember looking everywhere for a Luggage colored Sienna, but only being able to find places to pre-order the new colors, of which I didn't really care for (I think there may have been a Nutmeg, which was close to Luggage)

Actually, inside the pocket of the bag (like the seller mentioned to me), there's a sticker from Kitson and it does have the price. This is interesting to me, since I had recently found the following doing a Google search:
http://bagcrazy.blogspot.com/2005/05...ba-sienna.html

I know it's an older post, but it does show that Kitson had this bag (in the older style). I don't know - everything seems to point to this bag being authentic. Maybe with everything I've heard & all the hype, my expectations were just a little too high.

Geesh, I don't know. Maybe you could contact Kitson. The Kooba tag baffles me. Obviously it was reconnected with the white string...and no price. I have to say the leather has no obvious "fake" qualities except for the weird crinkling handles. I know you prefered an older bag but I think any Kooba leather bag should have Wowed you. Here is a pic of my Cognac. Newer of course but you can see the handles.

Ok...I did something a lil' bit naughty and bought a scarlett from Ebay last night.
Only now Im asking if its real...LOL! But Im pretty sure it is and I think that another tPF member bought the same one from the same seller a while back.

Here is the link
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...102835819&rd=1

I feel like I have come full circle now that I have bought this as this style of bag was what introduced me to Kooba in the first place! 6 months ago I had never heard of them. I bought a bag from Morocco which was exactly the same as a scarlett. It was a nice Oak colour and I loved it. Then one day while browsing through Ebay I saw a Sienna and I was like 'OMG they copied my moroccan bag!' Then I saw that infact it was the other way around!
So I stopped using the 'fake' but I still loved it! When I saw a 'real' scarlett on Ebay in the same colour as my fake I had to get it.

PLEASE dont say its fake..! Mind you, from what I have learned on this forum...I reckon its real.

Here's the Nutmeg on Elux and it does seem to have crinkled handles. Maybe the leather they used then was different because your bag's leather doesn't quite have the look on the Siennas of today or even last year. It's still weird that even the Nutmeg which is just a tad newer than yours seems to have a different smoother leather.

Does anyone know whether or not the type (engraving) on the magnetic snap has ever been used to determine if a bag is authentic or not? Is this a way to help weed out the fake bags (kinda like the riri zipper by MJ and the Lamp zipper by Balenciaga)?

THANX! It's not Truffle - the color doesn't look so great. It's actually Olive Brown (from 2003). That's my B-Baby!!

Looks okay to me! They have a return policy as long as the bag is new, unused, and tags are attached. They've got some good deals!
