Default Kooba Janine
Is anyone able to authenticate this one? The seller says it is authentic, but she doesn't have the dustbag nor the receipt anymore...

Many thanks!

Update: got the woven Ada, it's great, such an unusual bag (although indeed, on the heavy side). Thanks for your help.

It's definitley authentic. I only wish I knew how she keeps coming up with these older bags!

When Scenery used to post here she would mention buying at NY sample sales along with friends of hers. She used to list several new Koobas at one time with all those great photos she produces.

I wish I lived closer to NY!

calling Lexie2000-What do you think about this one? I thought the braids and tassels should be really thick, especially the tassels. Am I wrong about that, cause the rest of this one looks good. I'm trying to get better at judging the Gingers, Carlas, Marias and anthing with a braid and tassel.

I'm not Lexie, but I'll respond anyway The Carla looks fine. Someone untied the knot on the front and didn't do a very good job of re-tying it! The braids aren't laying against the bag nicely and the knot looks horrible, that may be what's throwing you off.

Yeah, there was alot of hub-bub back then about/with Scenery. I must say, I have a very hard time believing all those bags came from sample sales.

Thanks Huskylover, I wanted to delve into those days briefly because I remember the "hub-bub" well. I didn't because I don't know how many of us posting these days were actually around then. I remember the photo of herself that was originally posted too.

Do tell HuskyLover - I'm curious - where do you think she gets them from?

Hello, I'm new to the forum. I bought a Kooba Sienna from Ebay and I am fairly sure it's authentic but for peace of mind would appreciate a second opinion here (I was directed here by a friend who is a Mulberry addict). I'll get some pictures up today at some point but quick question - do I need to wait to be sure before I leave feedback? The woman who sent it to me is certainly convinced it's authentic, I'm sure of that - if it's NOT, she was ripped off if you see what I mean.

she was very good to get it sent next day delivery at my request so I could have it for a weekend away. But if I have to seek my money back if it's not authentic, will it matter that I gave her good feedback?

thank you!

Now hopefully I should be able to add some pictures. This is a used black Kooba Sienna (I hope). I've checked out all the main things suggested (I found a page on Ebay about authentic versus fake Koobas) - the zipper is graduated - thicker at the end. I know they can now mimic this but she bought the bag 2 years ago. The lining is perfect, the leather to lining is seamless, the gathers at each side of bag are even, the leather has raised wrinkles in it which are not in the slightest uniform, um I think that was it. Even if it isn't authentic, the quality of the leather is quite amazing:

This is much clearer IRL:

So many thanks in advance :-)

OK just quickly - one thing I have noticed which I'm not sure of - where the tassles on each side are, instead of the tassle finishing at the knot, there are tassles beyond the knot of about an inch - does this matter?

No doubt it's real. I've had this bag...3 times...LOL and it's a gorgeous Smooth Black Sienna. A very coveted leather. The tassles had probably been untied and that's why. You could try to get the knot down lower but beware that it may ravel more and you can't get it to look like it's suppose to again. If it bugs you, you could make sure the knot is good and tight and snip off the ends. Then I would use some clear nail polish to seal the knot.
