Kooba is just so inconsistant in it's designing that every time we think we have a sure fire way to tell authenticity, we find it's not. I was about to say the only way is to get it in your hands and see and feel the leather, and then you'll know. But after this last couple of seasons, the leather is so cheap and chintzy that who will ever be able to tell a real one from a fake.
This bag is no doubt real so count the one sided engraved zipper pull off your list.

I'm kind of curious about this - I don't know anything about really old Koobas, but is this really one?

Ummm, I don't believe it is. To the best of my knowledge, Kooba has never made anything even close to this, unless it's some sort of sample but you'd think that would be disclosed in the listing. The lining and tag are not Kooba "brand" to say the least.

I have come across two very old Koobas so far in the last year. They were both small bags and probably considered very unique for their time.

When Bonnie and Abbe Held first started designing and making bags they must have had quite a few, not only samples, but bags that were sold in individual boutiques. Their early bags were small, and they certainly concentrated on florals.

I don't think it's too far out there to believe this one may be authentic. The earlier bags did have fabric logos inside.

I have seen the fabric logos inside older vintage Koobas, and this one does not come close, IMO. Personally, if I were selling a sample/1 of a kind I would probably disclose that in the listing. It's not too far out there to be considered authentic, but some more info about this particular bag would be very useful.

I know this is a mute point since the listing has ended, but in my opinion, this bag was real. That tag was most defintiely used on the older bags!

I believe this bag to be a real Kooba. When Kooba started in 98 the bags didn't even look close to what we see now. They were a little odd and unique. The handle type on this bag was widely used in their early bags. And alot of them were odd leathers or cloths. None of these old Koobas were faked. They weren't even popular or well known at the time. The inside linings ranged from a solid color with the Kooba sewn in tag to a wide range of striped and florals. I may have some pics of old Koobas. I'll look.

Ahhhh, the good old Kooba's!!! Some of them were so cool. That little black and white floral that ended was really different. I could imagine it with a black top and white pants, how cute would that be? I was sure it was real too, just happened to pop in (haven't been here much).

Lexie,

I just sold the aqua and white python clutch a month or so ago. I took the time to look up how to take care of python so the buyer wouldn't ruin the skin. Interesting reading since most of the care of python was concerned with cowboy boots.

Really like the color of the one in your photo.
