Default Jimmy Choo Alex, snakeskin?

Hi I'm new to TPF and I have a random question. I just was at Nordstroms Rack at a sale, and I bought a beautiful Jimmy Choo Alex handbag. I've been dying for one. And I got an amazing deal on it. But it's in what I think is snakeskin. When I went online to find a pic to send to my sister (I'm that happy to have it, lol), I cannot find a single reference to the Alex in a snakeskin. It's a cream color. Nordstroms couldn't have sold me an unauthentic bag right? Anyone know about this? Thanks so much!

Jimmy Choo did do some cream anaconda bags recently, but I have not seen an anaconda Alex. You can, however see lots of fakes on the web. Perhaps, another Choo gal will chime in.

As for Nordies selling a fake... Because of their liberal return policy, I have heard stories of people returning fake bags to them, and walking away with the cash. All of this is anecdotal, I have never seen a fake for sale at Nordstrom. The likelihood is possible since we tPFers know much more about the bags than many SAs.

Thanks! I'll have to do that... and find out how since I'm brand new to this site. lol. I've done some googling and determined that it might be the Alex Gloss Python? I saw a link on Jimmy Choo's website that is no longer active, but says that ""Alex at JimmyChoo - Alex Gloss python handbag. Was 2325.0Now 1627.5. This double handed shopper in super luxurious gloss anaconda with distinctive Jimmy Choo hardware is a ..." so it seems that they might have done a python Alex. I've been to this particular sale for the last few years, and I feel pretty confident in Nordstrom selling authentic bags. I've gotten some amazing yet random deals. But it was just so odd that I couldn't find it online!

I have the Ayse in gloss Anaconda which is similar in style. They put a black strip down the front and back on the Ayse and my magenta Alex has a coordinating snake strip. Hope this helps you a little

Default Thanks :)

It DOES have a black strip down the front! Thank you so much! I just chatted with one of the associates at my local Jimmy Choo boutique and he was very nice, said I was more than welcome to bring it in etc. But he was guessing that it was probably authentic by what I was saying. I might go down there just in case though. lol. It was just such a great style and I don't have anything as fancy as the python so I thought, why not!!

Nordstrom did have both styles in the plain white leather and the Ayse in the anaconda at our store so I'm sure they probably had the Alex too

Thanks. You've been so helpful. I've been such a big designer bag fan for so long and I just have never joined this site until recently when I bought a Balenciaga (or two.... my credit cards hate me right now) and was chatting with the seller about this site. It's great. Very helpful since I'm just so anti-fakes and it's a little scary out there. Ugh. Can I ask you, how fragile is your python bag? The one thing I'm nervous about is my ability to care for the bag. I live in the city, public transportation is my life, I knock my bags around a lot.

Default Confirmed :)

I went by the Jimmy Choo store on Oak in Chicago just to check and they have several python bags in the color of the Alex I bought, and the sales associate (super nice) said that they did make the Alex in the python and that it was authentic. YAY! However, I did chat with him a bit about the python care and now I'm not sure it is the right material for me bc I'm really hard on my bags. So I have to figure out what to do now and/or if I should just try to get my hands on the Alex in an alternate material (mine was final sale, argh!). Perhaps I should also get a lobotomy so I don't have to be consumed by these handbags!! lol Thanks so much everyone

I hear some talk about the exotics being fragile and I have not experienced that at all. My anaconda and all my various snakes are holding up perfectly. The only thing I have noticed is that at the bottom of some of the bags the scales feel a little rougher at the curves and can snag delicate clothing. So I do give that a little thought when dressing I do get a lot of compliments when I'm using the gloss anaconda bag. But an additional bag is always a great thing too

I know I was drolling over a White Glossy Python Alex sometime last year. I was told that it never made it to the US because of the exotic leather rule we have. But just this past June sale, I saw there are some available. So oh well. I'm happy that you are able to get one at a great price. Caring for exotics will take some heart. I learn it with the Python Mahala my DH got for my bday. I ended up not using it as much as I want to only because I am such a wuss in the whole scales peeling off thing. Either way, at that price, you got a catch. You may find some exotic leather treatments helpful to keep the scales in line. Goodluck!!

I haven't had the scales peeling off thing, do you think it's because of age or it rubbing against things

I am so used to tossing my bags around. Plus with the public transit I freak at the idea that here I am going into the office and someone spills their coffee all over it bc they can't keep their balance on the train or the bus. lol. I tend to get Chloe's and Mulberry's bc they have such thick leather, they take the beating so well. Ironically I have a YSL that's hanging in there too. I reeeeeeally love the Alex style, I just buckled and decided to try and swap this one out for enough to get it in the plain leather black. I think I'll just use it so much more instead of coddling this one for special occasions or something when I feel like, no rain! weather is good! the wind is right!

I would agree - especially the rubbing.
