Default How to protect/clean moleskin lining?

How do you protect the Ramona interior lining? Can you spray it with some sort of protector? At the moment I'm very careful about what I put in my Ramona as I'm scared that I would stain it or leave marks. And how do you clean it if it gets dirty? TIA!

saff - We need robynbenz to answer this. Recently, she got a badly stained Choo from eBay and cleaned up the lining so well, you couldn't even tell. I typically store my things in smaller pouches to avoid problems. I think some gals use a purseket.

saff, there's a product called Vectra Spray that is fantastic on fabric and suede. I use it on my antique ethnic textile collection to protect them from moisture. I also use it on our oriental rugs to prevent accidental spills from soaking into the wool. And, I will also use it on the interior of all my bags whenever I get around to treating them.

Check it out: http://www.vectraspray.com/

They also have a short video showing treated objects repelling liquids.

Oooo, that sounds interesting. What types of textiles do you collect? And what is in Vectra Spray?

jburgh, well, I was collecting Central Asian textiles until my hubby began to politicize my collection because of the nomadic tribes-people who produced a good amount of what I have (they're pretty brutal people, although their textiles are splendid!!). Mostly old or antique tribal textiles heavy on the embroidery and/or ornamentation; I have a lot of Pashtun silk embroidery pieces ~ they are stunning!!! This is why I collect handbags today, because hubby will be hard-pressed to politicize my bags outside of the capitalist model (not to mention his own penchant for electronic gadgetry).

I'm not sure about the ingredients in Vectra Spray because I simply can't recall, although I spoke with the man who created it several years ago and have had outstanding good luck with it. We have oriental rugs throughout our house, along with two large breed dogs and three cats. Between all the liquids and solids that our pets have graced upon our handknotted rugs over the years ~ when they didn't feel well or just couldn't hold it another second, this product has been incredibly helpful with clean-ups. I have addressed all the residual with another product called Pure Ayre, which is a food-grade (completely safe around us and food) enzymatic cleaner that also addresses odors. Between these two products, they have saved our rugs countless times and what might have been a lot of cash in professional cleaning. I purchase both online at their respective web sites.

I have never tried Pure Ayre in any of my bags and I don't know if it should be sprayed on suede lining, although I imagine it would work really well on fabric linings to remove odors.
