Jimmy Choo has gone back to using the old style of outer zippers on the Maddy and Mahala. This also affects other styles in this same collection.
These old style zippers were very hard to operate. In fall of 2008, the zipper manufacturer, RiRi, redesigned the zippers and they worked beautifully. However, Choo bags lost that distinctive zipper. The newly designed zippers were used in the Resort 08/09 collections. Good news, the old style zippers are back! And, they operate more smoothly, too. So starting in S/S 2009, the distinctive zippers are now being used. I am copying part of a post I made months ago, as a reference: So I went to Nordies today (11/18/08) to pick up my Platinum Ring. While I was there I took a look at the new zipper (being used on Cruise 08/09) versus the old one. The new one, as well as the old, is made by RiRi, which is a relief. They are known for pretty good zippers. After operating both side by side I have to say that the new zipper works so much more smoothly. I loved the look of the old zipper, but dang it was hard to open. If I didn't brush some Teflon spray on the teeth, I could barely open it. For that reason, I never used the the pockets in my Mahalas. So, I am amending my response of shock, horror, and disappointment. I would much prefer the old zipper, that much is true. But if the new zipper, which is pretty heavy duty and seems well made, can fix the difficulty issue, I will accept it. |

Does anyone have images of the cruise 2008/9 change of zipper on Mahala or Maddy, so that I can compare? Know it looks more like a regular zip, but is it identifiable? I see that the old style are back
, but I need to identify the ones that did not stick around for very long. If this is in the wrong place again- apologies!!!
