Default Hardware scratches, prevention and cure
dear choo ladies,

i am a recent owner of JC Rikki. I love love love the bag. but then i get so many scratches on the hardware that i've put it back in storage.

How do i care for it?
1) is there something i can apply to prevent scratches?

How do i cure it?
1) Do you think JC can "polish" the hardware?

pls help!

I do not have any helpful suggestions, but appreciate hearing what others have to say.

I don't know of anyway to prevent them, but for all of my bags with brass/chrome hardware, I use a jewelers cloth and or cleaning polish/ cream to keep hardware shiny

You could ask your local jeweler if he can buff the hardware.

Unfortunately, scratches are going to happen because of the way the bag is designed. I try to be extra careful when slipping the strap on or off and don't get too many scratches.

The pics look really scratched. I would take it somewhere to get it buffed and then look for some plastic to cover it with if scratches bother you. I am not aware that JC offers any buffing services.

But wouldn't buffing it cause the protective layer to disintegrate? its not like the hardware is made of gold or anything. oh crap. i wasn't very careful at first cos obviously i didn't think that something so expensive would be so fragile. and the bag is so new!

The hardware is brass and brass can be buffed without damaging it if done by a proper shop. If the bag is really new, can you try and return it?

I have been carrying my Riki for a few days and noticed how scratched the hardware looks as well. I have had it for about 5 or 6 months and do not carry it all that often. I think it is just what is going to happen...

Please keep us posted if you get it buffed somewhere.
