Yep, new and brigth!

I am going on holidays to USA! just for a week, but I am so looking for my holidays. I will go in the last week of august ( so long from now). I will do the western triangle, one day LA, two days Vegas, and the the Yosemithe park. and after this, we have extended to spend 3 days in NY. We are going with another friend couple, so I think we will have tons of fun!

BTW, at vegas our hotel is Circus Circus ( it was the one at the circuit and we cant change for another), I have read the hotel is not very good and it is long from the strip, so we are thinking about skipping it and pay for another one more centric in the strip, we are seeing the MGM or the new york, does anyone know this hotels? we dont want to spend a lot of money, we will be staying for two days, and I think we will use one to go to grand canyon, so not a hotel on the top of luxury, but we want one with a good situation on the strip.

It is a bit of a distance, yes. The MGM is a good location and the NY NY is pretty okay too. The NY NY is a a bit further down, by just a bit. I want to say the MGM is a touch more central, but still not super central, if that makes sense. It depends on how much more it is. I can't remember if the transit system links up Circus Circus. It has been too long for me to remember. You will do tons of walking no matter what though. If you are only there for 2 days and using one for the Grand Canyon, I might not worry about the hotel. I think I would leave it alone and when you do want to go to the strip, if the transit system connects it, use that or take a cab there and back. Circus Circus had renovations a few years ago, if I remember, so it may not be too bad. You should do Fremont St. one night- maybe the night you get back from your Grand Canyon trip.

Sounds like a nice trip.

yes, you should see the Grand Canyon, much more interesting than Vegas!! Elizat has a point...you'll be able to walk down the main strip thingie and see the Bellagio and things like that.

NBL,

The trip sounds great!
You will love the Grand Canyon and Yosemite!
(These are 2 of my favorite place I used to hike.)
I would just stay at Circus, Circus and take the transit/bus from casino to casino.
After all a room in Vegas is just a room!
And go downtown and check out Freemont street with the light show!

Ok, I am sad to admit this, but the Grand Canyon did not wow me at all. went to Vegas (to shop) and then saw the Grand Canyon- but it is just a big hole in the ground to me. My sister almost had an o gazing at it, but It was just a lot of dirty rocks and crevices to me with a river running through parts of it. Now the stores in Vegas, wowed me.

Yeah it was quite the adventure how I end up here!
And Colette doesn't mind my purse friends at all!
I have to get her to start post posting more again.
In fact she always asks how each and everyone's doing!

It's not a great hotel, but as Elizat said, I believe it has been renovated a bit somewhat recently. A couple of my favorite hotels there are the Venetian - all the rooms are suites and it's very nice and also Paris and the Bellagio are nice too - all of the Vegas hotels are having special deals right now especially if you'll be there on a weekday and not the weekend. I just got an email from the Venetian with $109/nite rates for most weekdays during the summer months! Wynn is a newer hotel and fab -- a bit more expensive but they have a great Manolo Blahnik store there!!!

NBL- MGM and NY NY are directly across from each other and are pretty much at the beginning of the Strip. I'd say a more central hotel on the strip is like Planet Hollywood or the Mirage. I can personally vouch for MGM, it's quite nice. Pack light clothes! End of August is HOT HOT HOT in Vegas. If you want to be on the other end of the strip, then you have Treasure Island or the Wynn (but the Wynn is SUPER NICE=SUPER expensive). Although, TBH, in Vegas, you never stay in your room. Except to sleep. And everything's a taxi ride away, or there are shuttles as Matt said. Enjoy and have a foot long daquiri for me (it has ALWAYS irked me that I could never get one whenever I went...and then by the time I went back to Vegas to be able to enjoy it, I was diagnosed as diabetic and have steered clear from all things alcohol *sniff*)!

I've never been to the Grand Cayon...even my mom's been to the Grand Canyon (she's not much of a traveller). But LL, I feel the same way that you do...it's a big hole. LOL

What I'd REALLY want to do is eat my way through the US. ROFL Stupid Food Network has me all rilled up and ready with my bib and fork on.

Big and roomy!

I'm home. Had a fabulous time. Just what we needed. Finally remembered how to do NOTHING at all...with the help of the monster beverages, but hey, some of us are slow learners and need special tutors (aka Lime Margaritas and Long Island Iced Teas).

Only a moment to quick say hi, then I'm off to take care of my friends kids while she is out of state helping her mother and then the funeral on Friday. And the irony isn't lost on me that the two personal losses I wanted to "escape/frame" are the two I face with my friends upon return. Alas, it is what it is.

Hugs all around, especially to Duranie. And Matt. And teehee to Irainei. Way to go, Elizat! Hi nbl, tl, ll, sandy, suzzee, Euridice, Ms. L, and everyone else I'm forgetting.

Oh, the sale? Ugh...not fair when I'm flat broke from vacation beverage purchases.
