I have no experience with this brand but from the looks of the pic and the price I would say this is fairly low-grade snake skin, pretty thin and will curl pretty easy. Snake doesn't cause any damage to clothing, but will curl when it dries out. You can use DYO to moisturize it, but I wouldn't buy a whole bag out of watersnake. Just my two cents. |

Thanks LL! I have two M Kors watersnake clutches, so that's the only type I'm very familiar with (although I've petted more than my fair share of python in the Ferragamo store in LV ....
...someday). Good to know it doesn't damage clothes, I think that is my biggest concern. If the bag doesn't hold up I can deal cause it's so inexpensive, if it costs me more in ruined clothing, that will be a problem!Still thinking about it.... |

I found these as well
http://www.neimanmarcus.com/store/ca...stid%253D11902 http://www.neimanmarcus.com/store/ca...stid%253D11902 http://www.neimanmarcus.com/store/ca...stid%253D11902 Unfortunately the green and purple are gone.... These end up being $60 more than the BF bag. I like this E/W styling better, but may end up getting the BF bag instead to try out, since the quality is questionable. |

Yay, Matt is back! Soon I will need bat bag help...rest up...purse work to be done! Can't wait for stories!!!!
Hey all, GP especially, I took my flute and piccolo to a flute shop with the intent to sell it, and the guy told me general values and suggested I try some flutes in case I wanted to trade down and get another instrument or two for the boys. (MM now has a recorder and slide whistle...ugh, but how he rocks his slide whistle.) I thought it would be an easy sale, but while there I saw a flyer for a free/no audition (so okay if I suck after nearly two decades of not playing), and I got really excited just thinking about having a chance to play. SOOOOOO...with both instruments, I have several options: 1. Sell both outright. 2. Consign both. 3. Trade piccolo in to have flute worked on, which it needs, new-ish flute for "free." 4. Sell piccolo for quick cash. Trade flute. (Do not intend to keep the piccolo but think I really want to start playing again.) 5. Trade it all for several (as in two or three student instruments) instruments for me and the kids. 6. Trade both for a gorgeous Grenaditte composite flute with offset G. (For those who don't know flutes, someone with osteoarthritis needs a lighter, more ergo style flute.) Such a beautiful rich tone....oh my. So much for mindful and cashing in. |

Soooo do you want the overly-sensible-no-fun advice or the fun-fellow-flutist advice?
![]() In all seriousness: personally I do not play my picc all that much anymore either, and if it has been that many years for you I would get rid of it. You will get significantly more use out of a flute. If you need a more ergonomic/lighter flute to play comfortably, ditch the "trade to get flute worked on" option as well. Has your older DS expressed any interest at all in playing flute? If not, I would ditch the "trade for two or three" option as well. Even if MM wants to play it will be several years before he will start, probably more until you and he are sure he will stick with flute, so you can get a student instrument for him later on or just have him borrow the school's instruments until he is sure he wants to stick with it. I would advise going with either selling the picc for cash and trading in your flute for another you are more comfortable with, or getting the Grenaditte you say you love. And a free/no audition what by the way? |

DON'T YOU DARE SELL THEM OUTRIGHT!![]() Now after voicing my opinion on that one! ![]() I like these options in this order: #6 #5 #3 The Rest of the Choices..... Blah!![]() One thing in life that you have here is a chance to bond with your kids a very special and awesome way! Music is one thing that they will alway cherish and remember you for ALWAYS! So as I would say don't let this FADE AWAY!, But Instead Seize this moment and be Instrumental in their life forever!

Matt: thanks for chiming in :) I agree.
Some quick cash is temting, but just my flute won't get me the Grenaditte but with the piccolo, maybe. And a B foot joint....my Miyazawa had a C, which is not popular now. |

Ah! I thought so. Do get into it again. I have been on summer break and working onther things for my PhD so I haven't played since my orchestra concert in May, and I am already missing it. I went to a friend's recital a few weeks ago and I am really missing playing chamber music now too - I play in an orchestra but I haven't done CM in a few years. Do it NC!
If you really need the cash, trade in the picc for cash and trade the flute for one you will be more comfortable with. If cash is not absolutely necessary right now, trade both for the Grenaditte.

I don't want payments on the Grenaditte. That wouldn't be mindful, but I will get specifics. I did love playing it. He did say I should come play a bunch more flutes.
Grenaditte and watersnake...nice thread :) |

I'm backing GP on this all the way. I think you should definitely take the opportunity to start playing again! And if it fizzles out and you lose interest (in case you are like me, short attention span and tendency to think about doing things more than actually doing them), then heck! Just get rid of the flute later on! But go for it! Either upgrade what you have or get the Grenaditte thingie.
and yes, coming up with ways to play music with your kids would be great! Is older ds about ready for playing in a band? I started in 5th grade. Clarinet! I remember that first day of band we were all sitting there blasting away making the most horrible sounds on our instruments!! omg. |

NC,
Get the Grenaditte! Then, All In can say is after the rollercoaster high that I'm coming off of and all the playing I got to do I'm ready to go back! And I will when Colette's friend returns from Taiwan to her home in western Pa. I may not play as fast as I did in the 80's, but I found I play alot more tastefully. ![]() Also no more jumping off drum risers for me! ![]() All I know once you start up again it will be like a long lost friend that you will never won't to leave be hide again! And after all the boys don't have to play flute for you to play with them! Flutes sound awesome in everything from the Hardest Rock to the Greatest Classical! BTW I love playing it all! ![]() I see a classical guitar for DS#1 and Bass for MM! ![]() what can I say I'm partial to my namesake!
