Hi everyone,

I know there's important discussion going on right now about gifts for Ignacio, but I just wanted to share some macro pictures of my charcoal leather that I just took today. I've gotten several PMs about this leather, and it's difficult for me to describe what it feels like. You can kinda imagine what it might be like by looking at these shots, and get an idea for what I meant by it feeling "dry".

Also, the leather is showing its worn effect more at the corners where there is more stress. The first shot is of this, and the second & third shot show where it kind of flakes to show the natural color of the leather underneath. For those that opt for a zipper (which I don't recommend with this style/leather), you can see in the last picture how the presence of the zipper flap underneath causes stress on the leather on top (the lighter, raised line).

Hey, I just got my midi sophia. I'll be sure to take some pictures in a little bit once I've finished doing what I'm working on. It's so pretty! I keep getting distracted and putting it on and going over to the mirror to look.

Also, is anyone else from the boston area thinking about going to bagtrends? I was kind of thinking of going but I don't want to drive alone or ride the bus alone (if possible).

No sweat, just wanted to clarify from me end!

Ladies, check your PMs as I'll forward Ignacio's hotel info shortly. The latest date to mail something there is Monday, September 22nd, to ensure it arrives in time before he departs.

I am in the middle of something and not giving my full attention to my posts; I'll be back online later tonight. I hope we can send something as a group, no matter how small (doesn't have to be $ oriented), just to say the TPFers here support Ignes.

If not, oh well!

sara_g, there was some possibility of Ignacio going to Boston, although I have heard nothing further about it. If he does, both Evening and I plan to meet him, and you ought to join us!!! I'll keep you posted if I hear anything more about Boston, OK?

I know this is about the NY donation, but I want to comment on the overall donation idea. I am not really keen on the NY donation idea myself only because it appears to be put together in a rush. Donations are tricky with regard to record-keeping and the such.

I like the original idea that the donation be a contribution when we order each bag. That portion of the bag purchase would have to go to a non-profit account. Not sure how that would be set up, but I am sure someone does. The donation amount may seem small, but if we get it set up and going it will grow in comparison to the Ignes Handbag Company's growth, which could be really exciting to watch.

As far as N.Y. goes I am up for any gift that everyone else agrees upon.

Thanks for the outstanding photos royalwink!!! Your macro shot really shows the surface of this leather up close and personal. It is deliberately flaky with a dry, scaly feel. Naturally, it will appear more worn in all the stress areas.

How do you like this leather? Is it you? If you knew what you know about this leather now, would you have ordered it originally?

Wow, they really finish their edges and seams nicely! Thanks for the pictures.

I saw this leather sample. It has the feel of dry leather than needs to be conditioned. The color is gorgeous though.

How do you like it personally? I actually have a bag with this type of leather that I bought on etsy from Cha cha. It is a brown shade and it is rugged. It smells nice and it is a powdery, soft, dry feel if that makes sense. It is different than what most would expect of leather, but still I feel is unique. It adds character to the bag I feel and I've been wearing my Cha cha bag lately. Nice ruggedness for fall without trying too hard.

My 0.5 cents(used to be 2 cents) on gift and contributions: The balloons could be delivered to the event, the cost with delivery is probably under $60. As they are helium they will float and not "be in the way" .

After Ignacio returns home we could contact him and let him know our desire to contribute to his favorite charity and also suggest the idea of adding $ to a bag purchase for charity. Just a thought.

Yay! I am glad it got to you ok. You never know with Fedex If I worked in a cooler environment or was a little cooler myself, I would have so kept the bag, but I am glad it went to another tpfr.

Balloons are always fun! I will go with consensus here. After seeing the hotel, I don't think having the hotel concierge do anything is a good option.

Frangelica, I like this idea very much, both parts. Balloons would be festive and not in the way, IMHO. I love the idea of a small, collective thing from our Purse Forum group to wish him well when he is in NYC, but agree with all the great points everyone has made. I'll contribute to whatever we all decide, but I'm voting for the balloon idea, and a close second of having his hotel arrange champagne/treats, etc.
