Should I avoid obsessing in here and speak only of waiting? I'm thinking so.

OCTOBER for NC and NBL!
I am with you in spirit! I could say I would wait that long, but we know I am hopeless.

I will wait until fall for my suede miniE and until Xmas sales to more BV.

I wonder how they are going to use them and how are they going to pay for them!
LL, I think you are doing quite well with your ban, I know JC sale has disbalanced a bit, but we are proud of how well you have behaved! You have not bougth more than 5 bags, no?
I think for me it migth be a good thing not having more money, I NEED to be mindful! and have to save for my holidays, because I think we are going to USA, so it will be an expensive trip ( thank God for payday ).

NOCute, so september-october for our bags sounds a deal! this time of the year will be perfect for my suede miniE. I think we can start to obsess around august if that is ok?

I am marking my calendar: obsessing with NBL and No Cute on the next bags, check! That's about when I will want to plan a suede bag as well.

Okay, I need help being mindful.

I have been obsessing about getting a BV cosmetic case, a flat case and one other small leather good for a while. Especially the first two. I wanted to get them when I first went to the sale, but I behaved since I bought an Ostrich bag, a Python clutch, a pair of shoes and a small wallet.

I want a BV cosmetic case SO BADLY. I am on a spending ban for June (other than home upgrades which we are doing and some gifts), but I want, I want, I want. I have been good until today, partly because I am trying really hard not to break the ban and partly because I have been way too busy with work to go shopping. But today, I may actually have time to run out this afternoon (I need to buy some home accents, and Crate and Barrel and BV are not that far away from each other).

So help! I use small accessories a lot, but I am trying to be good. And the colors this season are so nice!

I was trying to be good especially since there is a clutch in the fall collection that is so beautiful, but it turns out it is much more than I wanted to spend on a clutch, so I will probably not get it (as nice as it is, I can't justify the cost per use as I don't use clutches that often).

Amigas..I've read thru all of this and I'm trying to behave so I'm posting here.

One thing though, JB NBL...ITA with Euridice about the angel purse. Why should you pay when others are getting theirs for free. It really is an expensive frivolous thing..plus two of my friends told me there were some problems with the zippers.

I'll admit, I'm "off" those bags completely so I may not being objective but I'm betting you will see a bunch of the freebies up FS in the near future. This is based on what I have seen on the BE subforum as well as the marketplaces.

IMHO The resale market suddenly is inundated. Less than 2 months ago I had to search for anything at a reasonable price but now it looks like they practically can't be given away. So if you aren't dying for one..but maybe you should contact the powers that be and see if you can get one at a discount..or free...if you've recently got a bespoke..or have one in the pipeline..if you don't ask..you'll never know.

LL...NBL...NC..Euridice I don't own a single BV but I do window shop..a lot..and dream about them..I have for years and years..I used to work on 59th and Madison...sigh...talk about temptation.

Ditto with JC..I live close to the Americana Mall in Manhasset, LI for those of you who are familiar with NY..Prada, Gucci, JC, MB, MJ, Chanel, Hirschliefer's, Hermes, BV, you name it, it's all there in a one mile stretch..and then some..so I try to stay away.

Amigas, you all have great taste..but I too am struggling between the want (lust) vs need and the necessity to downsize big time..and at the same time..

Almost every time I see a new Ignes I am consumed with lust..but I'm death on suede even though I adore it..but it's easier to restore the nap on suede if something spills or it gets stained. So I'm waffling for Fall '09..and although I'm still fixated on green without too much blue in it..I'm going to attempt to be patient.

NC...I bet the will be purples galore on sale..or in the resale market very soon since designers will be pushing their newest colors.

JB are these things that you don't have already? Are they needed? Are they colors that you need? I don't see anything SO bad about getting one more item, but if it's just because they're gorgeous and on sale, I say: be strong!! home accents are FUN to buy!!

let that be your outlet?

Well, I have a number of small clutches / wristlets that I use, so I don't technically need them (I mean really, all I need is a zip-lock bag), but I tend to use these types of items quite a bit. On the colors, they are just colors that I really like. Especially their burnt orange. I love orange in bags, but I don't have any and this is a beautiful orange that they have. I actually woke up my husband when I screamed after I saw first saw the color online when they announced their spring line. I waited and waited because I knew it would go on sale, but when the 50% off was announced, I let that go because I figured I could buy an exotic at a leather price instead. But now, I still crave it. I am secretly hoping that I go to BV and they tell me they are completly sold out. I'm trying to be strong!

Gingeybear, I was thinking yesterday that the reason items are not selling on Ebay/Bonanzle right now is because of the aggresive sales in stores. Buyers are focusing on getting new bags at fantastic prices directly from boutiques and department stores. I think (and hope) that once the sales end and the new fall collections hit stores (probably around August), that the auction sites will pick up in business. People follow the best bargains and right now, competition for bargains is everywhere!

For me, buying bags are never about need, more want, so I find the question I ask myself, is would I pay full price for this? If the answer is yes, and the bags are a smoking deal (50% or more) then I figure I am saving money in the long run by buying them.

Nothing from the fall collections yet is catching my attention so I figure buy the bags on sale now and just be content using them in the fall.

Since I just bought four bags in the last three days, I am clearly not all that mindfull. But I figure if I stick to my plan of only buying bags on sale, then that helps.

Are you going to feel bad/guilty/regret even if it is just a SMIDGE if you do buy it? If you don't need anything, would you buy if they were not on sale, as LL points out? I think if the answer is yes to the first- bypass. Or, what about this- transfer the money would spend into savings for a week and if you still MUST have the item after that, go for it. You might find that you'd rather have the money in the bank instead of another bag.

Thanks everyone. Crisis averted for today. I got a late start to my day due to work, so I had little time to shop and finish my errands. I went to Nordstrom too and wasted some time there (I love shoes and with so many on sale, I had to stop by). By the time I finished, stores, including BV, were closed. Yay! I bought nothing other than some insoles, which was really hard because I saw a pair of Miu Miu shoes that I fell in love with a few months ago and they were now 40% off. But I have decided to stick to my June no-shopping ban. I am very proud of myself.

Today, I carried a bag that I never carried before. I did the same thing last weekend. This is making me happy and making me think twice about buying more things when stuff I already have is being unused.

Jane Bond, be so proud of you! You have done well!
and sure, if you still have bags unused, use them prior to think about purchasing more, that is a good tactic!
You will feel so great ending june without shopping, think about that!

Ok, LL, as long as you are only buying bags that you would buy full price and are on sale, I think this is also a good point.
