OTOH, the sale itself is definitely tempting! I'm looking at an Emilia (US$395 base price), so the additional 20% off for this sale (compared to the 15% tPF discount) would still account for a decent amount saved, US$79.... It counts as mindful if I'm looking to save on a bag that I'm intending to eventually purchase anyway, right?

Well, yes, it counts as mindful to get the exact bag that you want and are planning to get on the sale. That's what I have done, but a bit to an extreme, hee hee! If it looks nice and tempting but it wasn't in your plan, then that's not "mindful" to purchase.
I think tinted chocolate at this price is a special occasion. And, I thought it was 35% off, not 20? The only other way to get the extra discount like that is for a newly introduced style, and then get that style in the tinted chocolate. But you want a specific style already. I'd say do it, it's the smart thing to do in terms of price. But if you are hesitating, then maybe you just aren't ready to do it, and it will make you feel better to do it later adn just spend a bit more....but when you are ready, mentally. |

^ Oh, I meant that the 35% discount is an additional 20% discount over the tPF 15% discount!
And, LOL, reading that back now, it sounds kinda confusing, no? Sorry!!Hmm, your last paragraph is definitely food for thought... Will still have to mull this over a little. Thanks, ladies!

oh, okay, phew!! 35% it is, and yes it totally makes sense now, it's an extra 20%, nothing to sneeze at. Hopefully you have some time to think it over and figure out what's the best thing to do right now.

Starkfan, here's my new standard to decide a purchase: if I post asking others "should I," then it's a sign I shouldn't. I, too, was digging for the perfect brown bag and have it now, but I relate to that search. However, asking us makes me wonder if you really want it or it's the sale catching your attention. Now if you were asking advice on leather or details, that's different. But "should I get a bag," then I'll lean no.

^ I agree. If you must ask, the answer is no!

that's a great rule.
For me its when I start thinking about the style of bag which I hadn't even contemplated pre-sale, its a sign that its just the sale which is motivating me. |

), but it's a bag that I can still wait a few more months or longer to get. (It's definitely a bag that I will get, and have had planned for awhile, but it's not one that I need right now!) Okay, I'm staying resolute and not succumbing to the temptation of this sale! Thanks so much!!

Where is that devil smilie ![]() If you are SURE that you are going to buy it anyway, why not get it on sale? Who is to say that tinted chocolate will be a sale leather when you decide to buy it? So, do I get banned for the rest of the day from this thread if I say things like this?

That said, if after weighing the benefits of getting it now you are resolute that you just don't want to get it now, then that's fine, too!! |

I garee with Kuwa and Euridice. My question for bags now is do I have room for it and if so, would I buy it if it wasn't on sale?
If you have room and would buy it full price, then go for it. Since I have no room and probably wouldn't buy anything full price I am sitting this one out. |

Does anyone use the cost-per-use analysis on what they buy? I use that for clothes and bags. What is upsetting me is that I have so many bags now that my cost-per-use is really high, even for bags that I got on serious sales! And, because of my cost-per-use analysis, when I pick a bag for the day, I always grab the more expensive ones to get the price down to a reasonable level. Somehow, this now makes my Ignes bags the most expensive bags I own! I guess I really will sit out this sale.
If I can just contantly remind myself that I don't have room for a new bag and that the ones in my closet now are not getting used anywhere near enough to justify their cost, I may be able to go a while without getting a new bag. |

I am starting on teh cost per bag use. I think that is a good technique. It's one thing to splurge on something then never use it. But quite another to splurge but use the heck out of it.
