^ I don't think anyone has. A few of us had left her messages though... I hope she's just busy and that she is okay!

I wonder too.

What are you all doing? I'm forcing an exam to go a. b. c. d. because autocorrect is insane.

^ lol. Autocorrect on word programs is terrible!

I'm getting ready to go walk the dog. It's almost 11, but I had to lengthen a necklace for a co-worker I made for her birthday and the wire guards weren't cooperating... took more time to get the damn wire guards to stay put than it did to make the whole necklace the first go round! Exciting stuff, huh?

I just got back from running with demon dog since he got the scent of something and decided to take off.

Very cool about the jewelry. I tinker with designs that I think need to be modified but suck at working with wires.

^ You should look at the Arts and Craft forum! There's a whole thread on jewelry making! I'm fine w/ basic wire wrap, but would like to learn how to do really detailed stuff. There is a member here, Pippi, that makes amazing seahorses (for pendants and earrings) that are wire wrapped w/ gemstones- really neat!

lol @ demon dog. My mom calls mine that too b/c he harasses both of my parents dogs and the cat. He thinks everyone should want to play w/ him and when they don't, well, he gets a bit pushy and annoying!

Well, come on over the Arts and Crafts thread, then! There are also some great You Tube videos on the basics. I like that you can take it and make stuff that you like. Before I started doing it, I always thought of making things as just big hunks of plastic and icky things w/ big hunks of glitter. I know, kind of narrow minded. Once I realized, hey, I can do this w/ semi precious stones/pearls, etc., I was hooked! Here's some things I've done below. I think you'd be surprised how simple it is to do!

I really suck with wires. No patience for the intricate work at all. I LOVE LOVE the middle and right necklaces in the first picture. You should be in business! Much better looking things than I see the crooks aka jewelers selling around here.

Thanks, ladies! I have a ton of fun doing it. I paint too, but the jewelry comes together so much quicker and it is just more satisfying to see (no patience, I guess).

Euridice- those are actually shells- I can't remember fully, but I think they are mother of pearl. The green in that necklace is aventurine. You can't see it but the first row has filigree bead caps around the stones like the other two strand necklace, but they are gun metal colored in the green/brown one. The other brown stones are smoky quartz and are faceted but I take crappy photos.

Lionlaw- I have actually thought about opening a shop on Etsy... I have no idea if I'd make any sales, but if I did, at least I could pay for my hobby! It's kind of sad- I get a lot more out of my hobbies than w/ work. I know some ppl are super passionate about practicing law, but it's not "my life," like it is for the men I work with. I don't know, maybe I'm not explaining it well.

I get what you are saying. It was like that for me until I found my nitch and now I am pretty obsessive plus the clients are obsessive so I am usually on 24/7. I remember being at the beach house this past summer and had my treo in one hand and cell in the other emailing and calling people while in the pool.

If you ever venture on Etsy, please post the URL. You necklaces are gorgeous.
