Seton, ms piggy and ParsleyMay already mentioned the most important ingredients for good mirror pics - natural light (the more the better), a big mirror and a steady hand. NO flash. You get the best light if you place a mirror right next to a window. Grey skies are a killer for a good pic. An uncluttered background and polished mirror are helpful too. Make sure the focus is on you. In mirror shots the camera tends to focus on things in the background. It's important to make sure you are in the center of the frame.
Hold the camera a little bit higher than shoulder height to have the least possible distortion. Good luck!

Can't wait to see your fabulous collection in action - never mind the quality of the pics!

Handybags, thank you for the compliment and for the laugh!

is it one shawl you are using or you combined 2 of them? Because you are tall and the length of the shawl's ends is impressively big. It looks so great on you, but I am 5'2", and no more xtra high heels for me.
I will try the look in the morning.

Somehow I have a feeling that it works only on monochromatic colorways, like you used - blue-white.
If I start doing it with multicolored shawl, even on identical scarves it would look not elegant, but overloaded.
But this combination is a killer!
Lady Luna, thank you I have used one shawl only and did the basic bias fold, which adds a lot of milage. I adore a scarf challenge, so I tried the same 'shawl/gavroche' look with my brighter colored scarves. It turns out to be a surprisingly fresh autumn look.

ms p, as your eagle eyes must have noticed, my departure to color has been somewhat on the slow side... most of the color is folded safely away.

Just bought it but does anyone know anything about it? Is there a website I can go to learn about it?

Mai Tai, I am not trying to compliment you, just stating the fact, that you could pull any look and it would come out gorgeous. Some people just have it.
I am considered elegant by many but there are certain things that I would never be able making work for me. One has to present oneself comfortably and naturally, be it a ball gown, or torn jeans. I tried today this scarf-shawl combo - it is too busy for me. Just not me.
You, I am sure, belong to the very small group that could make ANY object or ANY look sparkle.
So, Mai Tai, please, continue to serve as a source of inspiration and ideas for us.

We are Op H Mini-Losange Twins

seton I was too late to help, but MAITAI DISCRIBED IT PERFECTLY. I had the same problem all the time and was wondering how beautiful the pics here got through the mirror. I stopped trying and bought a camera with delayed-action shutter release (which most of the digital cameras have nowadays as feature)

dogbiskit Beautiful as always!

MAITAI I see you have a new fav style to wear scarfs
Lovely new Gavroche - the multiculoured 'Coupons Indiens'
(that reminds me that I have to do some episodes this weekend)

Wow MaiTai, I love these colors on you!

The mini Losange was adorable up post! Love the color/pattern

As for photos, I don't usually use the mirror. I just hold the camera up, frame my face out of the shot and snap away. It's a digital camera so, I can take lots and lots of pics. I'm using a tripod now to help get rid of any jiggle. Hope that's helpful!

Great looks, MT! I've often gone to put on a shawl and then taken it off b/c I was already wearing a smaller scarf! You have inspired me to try this look!
