Unfortunately, I do not have an Hermes "rainbow" inside my bag, a Kelly - wish I did, but I quickly discovered that having one can equal the price of another Kelly and that is just not possible for me at this time (probably never!).
But I still wanted some color in my bag and also wanted it to look neat and organized - WAY too lovely a bag to have the inside look like a waste basket. So I've bought a variety of things and colors. Does what's in my bag look like the ones with a rainbow of Hermes? Of course not! I'm hoping that my humble efforts will inspire others who would love to have that very costly rainbow but just can't afford it.
My wallet is one I bought at a Christmas boutique - made in Italy and it has very nice leather. I bought it when my old faithful Vuitton wallet finally bit the dust and got brown to match my Vuitton bag - wish now I had bought a red one. I've had it 3-4 years and the quality is excellent. I would love a new wallet - Hermes or otherwise - but am in the process of deciding just what kind I want and I don't know yet. I sure don't want to plunk down all that money for an Hermes until I'm VERY sure what I want! I'm thinking smaller, rather than larger and using a separate card case for all those cards I only use occasionally.
I was dying for something violet/lavender and found this small bag on
eBay. It's also made in Italy and the leather is very soft and nice. It had a hideous shocking pink zipper (that didn't show in the ebay photo - boo! hiss!) so I paid $30 to have a matching one put on it instead. It holds all my cosmetics (I carry very few), Purel, tapemeasure, pill box, emery board etc.
Before I got my Kelly, I had bought a small leather envelope at Lederer in NYC and I use it for all my receipts. Best thing I ever bought! I can always find one if I'm doing a return, and it keeps my bag from looking messy. I wish it weren't brown and would buy another one but they have discontinued these.
When my husband and I were in Paris a few years ago, we visited the Musee Jacquemart-Andre which was wonderful. Their gift shop had lots of interesting things and I bought a small deep red glazed leather post-it note holder and matching business card case. I've been carrying them now for 4 1/2 years and they have held up very well.
Tissues are always so messy in a handbag and I don't like the "ordinariness" of those little cello-covered purse-size ones, so I found this one on
eBay - it's out of Liberty print fabric and that little ordinary packet fits right inside. It's light weight and it adds color.
While in LA, I found the little turquoise card case. I now keep all my insurance/voter registration/id cards in it - don't have to get my wallet out at the doctor's office or the pharmacy. It's not bad looking.
The glasses cases came from the optical shop. They're not leather, but the colors are so nice that I like them - light weight, too.
I can't stand a heavy handbag and these rainbows can be horribly heavy as well as costly. I've kept the weight down which is a VERY good thing.
Someday, I'll splurge and get an Hermes wallet - don't yet know what color or what kind, but it will happen.
