yes, the zip agenda is my favorite. since it is matt croc in dark brown! can you explain what the pockets are for? particularly on the right side, i don't quite 'get' it with the two small pockets at the bottom.

Its a large portfolio that you can slide a note pad in on the right side. The two flat pockets are for business cards are credit cards and are hidden when you have the note pad in. The guy who custom ordered it wanted pockets for his iphone, calculator, business cards, and USB sticks....and a couple pens of course ;-)

As a true connoisseur of leather goods, Peter Nitz designs and creates the lightest of bags, for his eponymous collection Discreet by design, his young brand makes something precious out of the extravagant.

If only a few drops of extreme elegance are enough to create addiction, then Peter Nitz is definitely a man to keep an eye on. At 34, this American could quickly become one of the most sought after accessories designers.

Objects of addiction: almost insolently luxurious clutches and purses, 100% made by hand in Zürich.

Peter Nitz followed his heart to Switzerland 13 years ago, arriving without a work permit. In order to make a living, Peter(the son of an antique dealer) scoured local flea markets and sold his findings on eBay. He has taste for leather, a sharp eye when it comes to vintage (trained in an auction house back in Chicago) and a flair for business: enough to open an online-store and two luxury second-hand shops, one in Zürich, the other in Paris, in which hundreds of Hermès, Vuitton and Gucci bags transit on a regular basis.

« Over time, by seeing, touching and feeling, again and again, I became familiar with leather, the finishes, grains and characteristics of the skins...... And I developed a feeling for what is quality, and what is not », explains Peter Nitz. That’s how he began to start designing on his own.
The only thing he was missing was the know-how.

However, two years of private tutoring by a former Hermès craftsman would do the trick. His tireless search for quality would lead him to find the best materials, premium tanneries, and to composing the perfect toolbox –blades, needles, pliers-, needed for the opening of his workshop last December.
« I wanted to do something that would bring back meaning to EXCLUSIVITY », explains Peter Nitz, whose featherweight treasures (some less than 200g on the scale) made of crocodile, lizard or ostrich are handmade with a maximum of two pieces per week. Prototype can take up to two weeks to develop.

Clutches, in lagoon blue, blond tobacco, black lacquer or cognac brown, lined with goat or lambskin, require two or three days of work each.

Two different lines were launched:
- “Masterpieces” : unique, one-of-a-kind pieces adorned with vintage fine jewelry, such as a Van Cleef & Arpels cuff link paved with sapphires, a dragonfly from the Fabergé workshops or a Victorian insect set in rose-cut diamonds, sometimes lay on a silk ribbon
- “Atelier” series: more affordable, classic models which are not limited to one piece and can be customized according to the customers wishes.

Prices –from $8000 to $24000 - could almost make a kilo of beluga look like a mass market product. Not to mention the option of custom orders, day or travel bags for women and men, nor Peter’s obsession for natural crocodile, the VERY HEIGHT of exotic skins.

Fascinated by this understated richness , the clients, described as “the well travelled cosmopolitan woman”, did not take long to come knocking on Peter Nitz’s door, whose next dream is, someday, to make Madonna happy (a antique M shaped brooch set in diamonds is already set aside). Last but not least, he designed storage boxes for his creations, made as jewelry cases, which come with a custom-handle, matching the skin of the precious bag it protects. An aesthetic detail combined with a practical purpose, meant for those clients who are fortunate to own more than one piece; an unbeatable way of picking the desired treasure….Oh, such delicious little things to lust after.
Oh I just saw this. thank you for the translation Pete. Hope I can visit your store someday. Keep up the good work.
