Forgive me for going negative on Helen Schifter...she's clearly a huge fan of Hermes bags and that's something we can all appreciate. But if my family's money came from the manufacture of handbags - I'd carry those handbags, even if there were many more beautiful handbags available.

If Le Sportsac bags didn't suit my fashion sense, I'd insist that my husband create a small more exclusive couture line, just so I could carry one of the bags that supported my lifestyle. You don't see Lisa Ford driving a Mercedes or Mrs. Mick Flick driving a Bentley, why would someone whose disposable income is made from handbags carry another brand? It just seems disloyal to me.

Moi aussi!! In fact, my DH - a sportswear designer, gets stompin' mad at me when I purchase/wear clothes similar to what he designs.

And while I know he had a very valid point - it's difficult to wear his stuff 24/7. Whenever possible, I stick to the stuff that "supports my lifestyle". It's not feasible for him to design a coutour line for those rare occasions that call for something more dressed up.

If I saw Ms. Schifter carrying a bag, similar to stuff that Le Sportsac already carries, but from a different brand - I'd say "hey! what gives?" But it might just not be in their business plan to create a line that can compete with Hermes.

Just in fairness to her - because I kinda see where she's coming from.
