first you probably would not believe what she wears under her abaya
secondly no challenge at all you can do a lot of things with the abaya to look fantabulous in the end it is just a black canvas (much like the new york ladies black unifrom lol) that you can style the way you want
thirdly with exception of some countries a lot of middle eastern countrys do not demand the women to cover up they choose to or not it is their choice
the role of women in the middle east is a highly complicated one i just want to clarify that dressing how you want to is not an USA exclusive thing

lilach, I visited Dubai some time back. I saw many lovely surprises ... when the lovely women walked in the malls, and the skirt of the abaya parted in the middle. And the jewels on both hands and arms, when their sleeves dropped to their elbows when they stretched out to rein their children from running off.

I have heard from my friend who used to be an ex-airline crew, that when some of these ladies travel first class, they would remove their abaya when they board the plane, and out they come out of the lavatories in stunning clothes.

My DH is Muslim and I sometimes cover for different events (wear an abaya/hijab/scarf etc). I agree & I'm sure she's probably wearing something awesome.

I don't feel right being too descriptive but I'll just say that, in my experience, the clothing and jewelry can be wonderful. I also feel that there's something really cool & precious in the degree of privacy of hijab. ...Of course this is only my opinion/observation/experience.

^^ I like hearing about what other ladies do in their neck of the woods, too.

-yet-

I am very glad that *for me, personally,* I am without what *I* perceive as societal pressure/desire/need/religious mandate *for me, personally* to wear an abaya/chador/temple garment/covering.

To each his own.. This subject is never ending we can talk for hours about it.. The debates we had in my universities were similar but thats not my field
