these pictures are great fun to look at but olivia palermo, molly sims and rachel zoe are not socialites--they are "celebs" (and i use that word generously). renee rockefeller is a socialite, marina rust connor, aerin lauder are the younger socialites---audrey gruss, jaimee gregory, jo lauder and the like........are the old guard. these girls are NOT socialites/ philanthropists of any sort. i hate to be nitpicky but there is an important distinction

Simms and Zoe - definitely not. But I was under the impression that OP was working the social scene long before her reality TV gig.

she entered the scene as a pretty young party hing who had enough of her dads money to go out and about but not a"socialite" of any sort

Gotcha. I believe the term socialite has been corrputed. I make a further distinction between a socialite and a philanthropist.

I guess anyone is entitled to an opinion, but the definition varies. To me personally and I am sure a few other people Olivia Palermo, Molly Simms etc are not celebrities. I don't think being a model and doing one tv show labels you as a celebrity automatically. Many of us, I'm sure, simply do not have the time to follow the careers of these people as precisely as it's been said...

B101 - I am v. grateful for the pics you post, I love to see the eye candy. I was responding to H'aholic's post but I, for one, don't mind where the pics show up, as long as we get to see them.

The line around who is "famous" and what they are "famous" for is so blurry now. Just a sign of our times

Anyone else agree that mom's bag does not go with the evening gown, even if it is H? She was absent the day they reviewed fashion do's and don't's?
