Marc Jacobs is a genius. He's won numerous awards, not to mention the CFDA ones and has single handedly turned Louis Vuitton around. He's quirky and doesn't take himself too seriously!

Just because this bag isn't your style (guess what? I don't like your style) doesn't mean someone else couldn't rock it.

Follow the golden rule that your mother taught you: if you don't have anything nice to say, DON'T SAY IT AT ALL!

i agree with liberte and birkiness. i personally dont mine the color combo but i definitely dont expect most people to. his stuff is young, fresh, and hip. even if chanel does have quilting, and hermes has orange and locks, it doesnt mean they invented it and are the only ones who can use it.

IMO Marc Jacobs is the best American designer, and the only one doing real fashion, the man literally saved this years NY FW,after one mind blowingly boring collection after antoher he presented something worthy of calling fashion.
I dont mind this because its not as offensive as what Ralph Lauren has been doing. In fall/winter collection, the bags look like very similar to Birkins:

Please don't let this become a designer slamming thread. It started out on a very light hearted note. If you are a hardcore MJ fan, and pains you to read this thread, the advice to you, is to avoid it. We are H fans. But when we see a terribly designed H bag, we don't embrace it either. We are true to our opinions about our H bags. Totally. We like some, and we hate some. That's the truth we embrace.

And back to this thread. We were talking about THIS bag PER SE. We were not criticising MJ himself or his other wonderful designs.

PEACE.

SHAME!!!! Are you people kidding me!!!! I would like to say how sad it is that designers get slammed for trying new things! First, its OBVIOUS he's paying homage to HERMES! DUH!!! And second, its a nice bag and its better then a plain boring, orange, bag with a lock and a horse. He's adding some YOUTH to the bag for crying out loud! Let me guess, your favorite designers DO NOT "borrow" or flat out "steal" ideas...puuuuhleeeez! I'll be the first to say that i hate the Stam bag but its no cause to put "shame" to a designer for giving and trying something different! So many others have done the same and will continue to do the same old boring stuff and "borrow and steal" so quit the up and arms!!

Don't worry, plum blossom. We still love you. It's obvious it was not meant to be malicious but some people just can't take it.

yes, don't worry plum blossom. We were just talking about this particular bag with our opinions and we never dislike Marc Jacobs in anyway. I do like him too. Like I said, his last winter collection is one of my favorites, clothes, jewelry and bags and I love everything. But that doesn't mean everything he designed is always awesome for every seasons!! There are some of H bags that is funny looking too.

Yup. Nothing worth splitting hairs over. If it means anything to anyone, where on earth do you think the now famous Lindy got its slouchy concept from? Chloe. It's the fame of the Chloe Paddington in 2005 that prompted Hermes to come up with a slouchy bag to compete. Although we are not talking about a copy cat design, we are still talking about ideas that are not wholeheartedly original, and that's fine by me. And many of us, I believe. And .... it's ONLY A BAG!
